The thing about China is that you need government approval for any business venture. So the fact that this stuff even managed to get this far means someone in the local government is knowingly complicit in this scandal, they just don't give a damn until they're caught.

I remember years ago a Chinese street vendor arrested for selling fake breaded pork cutlets made from cardboard. 😅 Edit: my memory was off it was dumplings. And apparently a hoax the journalist was arrested.

All my life I have wanted to go to China for a food tour, that’s all changed when I watched a documentary depicting how poor the hygiene levels were there. What sealed the deal for me was the sewage oil! These people were skimming the top off the sewage drains for the fat deposits on top, “refining” it to look more palatable and cooking people’s food with it/selling it to unsuspecting customers. I feel sick just thinking about it…🤢🤮😵‍💫
