I think what really makes the scene hilarious for me is that when Caribou realizes that Franky has caught him and he slowwwwly sinks back down into the barrel... the ominous music is still playing as if nothing is happening.

That little detail I think is the icing on the hilarious cake that is this scene. Even after rewatching it dozens of times, it never fails to get a chuckle out of me.
