A couple of points missed here. The US Navy has shrunk to pre WW2 levels and the deployment tempo has not let off a bit with he current war on terrorism etc.. This operational tempo has a detrimental effect on training and retention. We need more ships and more sailors to relieve the current stress levels. This is direct result of piss more management from the past 8 years and budget sequestration.

I remember being forward deployed in Japan onboard a Ticonderoga class Aegis cruiser in the early '90's. Our sister shop, the Bunker Hill, was being used for parts when we needed critical stuff, leaving her dead in the water. The collisions at sea were bound to happen, due to severe budget cuts, manning limitations, less time for training and crazy operation tempos, to name a few-John in Texas

This is not an Obama or Trump issue. Both of those guys get way too much credit for things. No, what is going on here is actually a scary problem. Somebody or some group somewhere in this world seems to be able to hack these ships. I find it hard to believe that this is an admiral or president's fault. I don't give a damn who it is.

The Navy has not been forthcoming with the general public regarding the specific causes of the Fitzgerald collision. It does not take two months to determine the primary causes of a collision at sea in a documented case like this. The Fitzgerald Officer-of-the-Deck was immediately responsible for taking evasive action but has not been publicly named or relieved of duty. Furthermore, the Pacific Fleet command has apparently not sufficiently informed other ships in the fleet regarding actions to be taken to avoid a repeat of a Fitzgerald-like collision. It is either political correctness, a cover-up or negligence that has prevented the Pacific Fleet from taking the necessary action to prevent a repeat of a Fitzgerald-type incident.

Marines aircrafts falling out of the sky. Navy ships colliding in open waters. What's going on with the Dept of the Navy?

"What’s wrong with the U.S. Navy's 7th Fleet?" Well, for starters, someone has convinced them that wearing camouflage aboard a warship somehow makes sense...

FC getting ready for C school here at TSC-GL. Dead-ass half of us joke about getting ADSEP or MEDSEP because they really make you hate it as much as possible. People turn into dirtbags to get by. Are we weaker than previous generations? Or are they just working us just as harder but letting us play a lot less harder. So many bullshit rules here at GL. I only speak for surface combat rates so it can't be the whole problem...

Honestly, a big reason of the accidents is severe undermanning and sleep deprivation of the current personnel. The Navy was underfunded so they didn't accept as many recruits. Now the problem is showing up. Obama tried to save money, by downsizing, which eventually caused us to pay more money with these accidents.
