People moving over to Resolve and yet Apple doesn't really seem to mind. I love FCP but I have to admit that it's frustrating watching Resolve get updates and have so much more capability.

I’ve been a FCP editor since Version 3 (ya, the old days) but now I’m also using Resolve. Love the Blackmagic iPhone camera app so I hope the FCP camera app is as good, Resolve on the iPad has been way better than FCP on the iPad so I’m anxious to get my hands on the the updated version. The big hold out for me was also not having the ability to edit from the drive. I could with Resolve. BTW, I did just order the new 13” iPad Pro with the M4 chip. Trended in my 12.9 iPad Pro with the M2 chip. I love the new features.

I don’t even care about external storage since I have a 2tb version of the ipad Pro and who would edit a larger project on an ipad anyway? but besides that what I really hate about final cut for I pad is that i have to tap on each clip individually every time i want to affect the parameters on it and the play head doesn’t select the clip in the inspection part of it. It’s incredibly frustrating.

It sucks everyone is praising this mobile app updates while our own Final Cu Pro seems to be forgotten by Apple. It is the same on the gaming industry, where publishers are focusing on bad, mind rotting mobile games while good, real games are neglected.

The final cut updates are pretty w/e, but the logic updates are quite interesting. The feature to watch for video editors there is definitely the real time stem splitting, though Davinci Resolve's newest beta already has it as of a few weeks ago and Izotope will also have it in their imminent release of RX11. Will be interesting to see who does it best.

Can I use without having Final Cut editing software

Apple did announce FCP 10.8 for Mac but since this is an iPad event, not surprised it didn’t take center stage. I am wondering of my iPad Air 5th gen can use this FCP2 update (hope so) and I’m totally jazzed about Apple releasing their FCP Camera App - third party apps are great but Apple never gives them all the native code. Apple’s camera app is likely to be killer.

I agree about the external storage. This is the biggest thing for me that would make me subscribe to FCP for iPad. I am presuming this will apply to my M1 ipad, and not just the new ones because I can’t afford a new ipad lol😅😊

I'm wondering if there will be true collaboration with maybe some kind of cloud based system. I think they are so far behind Resolve and Primere that there has to be something in that arena. At least I hope. Also, with 10.8 now coming out who knows what's in store?

FCP on iPad was a very big flop specifically due to no external drive support and no plug ins basically making it DOA. Also when your wanting to compare apples to oranges for the same price point I would take an MacBook Air over an iPad every day of the week its only very specific situations and touch input /pen that I would care about the iPad more so but even then the only thing its got over an air is the screen. Maybe this year the air will also get oled and put it to rest until they give full functional FCP on iPad or better functionality on iPad os in general. Something has to give or the iPad itself is knocking on an early grave.

Well even though Apple didn’t give all the updates people wanted for fcpx at least it seems like they haven’t abandoned fcp. It gives me hope that they might actually catch up to the competition one day.

I have always wanted to use an iPad while traveling but not being able to use an external drive was a barrier. I typically use up to 4 cameras- all have mini sd cards. If I only have an iPad, how do I get the media on the external ssd drive? Thanks for the video.
