I think the self-esteem/confidence thing is more of an unfair advantage if you were raised in a positive environment which allowed these traits to become inherent in your character. Versus someone who has to work to overcome negative life experiences in order to build confidence. For some people it can take years to develop genuine self-esteem and confidence. That's a disadvantage.

1. Double down on strengths
2. Determine the path of least resistance
3. Growth Mindset - everything is a learning experience

- the background of a person can determine their success
- an unfair advantage when it comes to intelligence
- location and luck (being in right place and at right time and doing something about it)
- Manufacture our own luck (take more actions, do more things, meet more people, go to more events, blog about your startup, produce things & publish them, get feedback, put stuff out into the world) this leads to more of a fair advantage
- education/experience (more brandable, knowledge, network)
- personal growth (confidence, self-esteem)
- growth mindset (anyone can do it) vs fixed mindset (It is something not for me) ~ you got to find a reality balance between them.
- being humble at the end of the day

Ali's unfair advantage is clearly that English accent.

I can't believe Ali's handwriting is still so nice years after being a doctor.

I might get that book, this dude has a very no non-sense down to earth approach and he seems to want to empower rather than sell a dream.

My Unfair Advantage, being interviewed by Ali! 😉

With so much negativity on YouTube these days, it's refreshing to see Ali out there summarizing this book and interviewing the author in a very positive way. So many YouTubers are out there "debunking" and criticizing. Can't wait to watch more of these videos!

Realistic videos like this are so much more motivating than any of those "YOU CAN DO IT! JUST WANT IT BAD ENOUGH!" videos. Thank you!!!

Would keep self-esteem under status category. The amount of time and effort I had to put into confront Complex-PTSD/DTD is something I wouldn't call an advantage. Having the ability to be aware of your brain, mind and body to develop any sense of what constitutes self-esteem isn't something to be taken for granted. Thank you for your video(s).

You won't believe it but your videos are making a major impact in my life here. Love from India! 🇮🇳

Anyone who finds this book interesting might enjoy Malcolm Gladwell's "Outliers" too - I haven't read "The Unfair Advantage" yet, but Gladwell's book might have covered similar grounds on some respects (or to be precise how famous people's success isn't contingent on hard work only but also external, uncontrollable factors like date of birth, world events, and opportunities)

There is an enormous difference between “hard work” and “hard work towards a specific goal!”

Many people work very hard but get nowhere... mostly because they don’t know where they are going or the steps required to get there. Once you know those elements ... that’s when hard work pays off!

You know Ali, truth be told, just from watching many of your videos now and the very insightful knowledge you pass on, I can tell you that science behind all these things is great - but what is even greater is having the level of enthusiasm towards your target goals that you carry. I think many of us just aren't so obviously enthusiastic and the whole journey becomes more of a grind. You seem to sincerely enjoy almost every facet of learning and the journey and it's something to behold and learn from for ourselves. Your mindset is bulletproof for success regardless if you want to look at science or not, amazing work my friend.

Ali, I was googling 'self help book clubs' last night. I love this series already. It might be cool if you told us which book you were doing next so we can compare our learnings to yours. Just an idea. Thanks for being awesome :)
