Could Sith have Force ghosts? George Lucas was very adamant that a Sith couldn’t become one with the Force, retaining their consciousness, existing out of time and space like Yoda, Obi-Wan, Anakin and Luke. But we have seen various dark side users clinging to some form of life after death. Unfortunately for them, their existence seemed more like a curse. They’re often trapped in one place. Anchored to an old relic like the Sith Lord Momin. Or haunting a location like the Grand Inquisitor. So a Sith could exist after death to some extent, but not nearly on the same level as a Jedi.

Essentially Jedi can become true Force Ghosts that can travel to any location and converse with anyone they wish but at the cost of being left in pain when the separate themselves from the force.
Sith can become sort of like haunting ghosts trapped in a specific location or object with limited means of communication or interaction with the outside world.

I'd prefer to think of it like this, Jedi can become force ghosts since they can accomplish complete inner and outer peace. They're a sign of beauty or tranquility. Like soft unbroken skin, the force is whole. Meanwhile Sith, such as Nihilus, are more of a wound while alive and a scar if you will on the force when dead. And like after a wound heals in real life the scar remains, a constant reminder and distorted image of the damage done before. So they're not really there, but the wound, the memory is.

I like to imagine the Sith ghost in a lobby like mos eisley with Nihilus and Revan watching Anakin and Obi-wan fight like

Don't forget the Knights of the Old Republic (first one), where on Korriban we visit the tomb of sith lord Ajunta Pall which has his spirit giving us a riddle regarding his sword.

Vaughn made the point for Darth Marr, but there is Darth Vectivus, who despite being known to hang out in a particular cave did not appear bound there.

I think the real answer to this is not that the Sith cannot become force ghosts, but rather it is so unfathomably unlikely that a Sith is willing to enter the mindset that the power requires to use.
There are probably plenty non-Sith darksiders who have become something akin to a force ghost, but due to not being part of the big name brand darksider culture and likely being very very isolated we never really hear of them.

It should also be noted that Lord Momin is a unique case as he describes himself as flowing with the force (unlike most Sith that try to control the force) similar to force ghosts however instead of flowing with the light he instead flows with the dark

Technically speaking they can essentially become one with the force while living like Darth nihilus also if you wait and see Obiwan and Yoda both become force ghost before dying choosing the surrender their physical form to the force LIKE NIHILUS DID

the difference being that nihilus as a complete dark side user while yes one with the force was only fueled by desire the desire to consume, so in a way they can become force ghost but not like yoda or obiwan

Well… there is the kind of unexplained case of Darth Marr.

To me these sith ghosts are impressions of the sith user's emotions on the force. That's why they're tied to one place, where that user had such a powerful dark side presence that an echo of them remains after death. Essentially personifications of a disturbance in the force.

for me it is just a projection of themselves: this would mean the real Bane was never talking to Yoda, just a projection of how he could interact with the people.
