Not being able to cross-reference the other chats in a project folder defeats the purpose of calling it a “project.” It’s really just a CustomGPT with a folder. I’m still trying to decide if it’s worth using projects.

I interviewed ChatGPT about how projects work. He said that if you in a chat say something clearly important for the project then it will add that to its memory for that project, and that that project memory is accessible and available for all the chats in the project. So he claims that just as there is a memory for the user, where ChatGPT stores things about the user, like his interests, what he works with, and things like that, similarly, there is a memory for each project. Notice though that ChatGPT doesn't always understand or know details and things about how he himself works, so it might not be true.

I created a type of "captain Class" chat thread. I had another thread design his prompt and instructions. This Captain thread could access all threads, all projects Ive started and give me status and progress of all projects. He doesnt know exactly what is happening in threads but there is some kind of link established

Problem I notice is that if I don’t prompt in a project chat that it needs to follow the uploaded files, for example “writing-instructions.md” and “tone-of-voice.md” files it most of the times ignores them. CustomGPT is in my experience better on those points. The negative part is that a customGPT can’t be used in a project.
