Astronomers may have discovered evidence of an unseen planet in the farthest reaches of our solar system, almost 10 years after Pluto was demoted. Michael Lemonick is a writer for Scientific American, and joins CBSN to discuss this surprising find.

To say that Pluto isn't a real planet because it's a dwarf planet is like saying a dwarf human isn't a real human.

The Sumerians and Egyptians knew this THOUSANDS of years ago.

That guy. trying to sound intelligent. TRYING.

The look on the scientist's face when the guy talks about the big bang is priceless.

"Planet X"
X is the roman numeral for 10

As soon as I heard the male anchor give his whacked out version of the big bang, I scrolled down to see the comments. They did not disappoint lol.

WOW. So I guess I owe all of those Nibiru/Planet X theorists an apology. Planet X is confirmed now.

The ignorance of the male anchor is astounding ... even after being corrected he still doesn't get it ... these are the kind of people giving us our news (face palm ... )

The Big Bang Theory pushed the planets into their current orbits?  Wow!  They have really earned their million-dollars-an-episode salaries.

A giant planet (called Nibiru) passes by Earth every 3, 600 in a highly elliptical orbit.
According to Sitchin's interpretation of Mesopotamian iconography and symbolism, outlined in his 1976 book The 12th Planet and its sequels, there is an undiscovered planet beyond Neptune that follows a long, elliptical orbit, reaching the inner solar system roughly every 3, 600 years.

Big bang, massive explosion, then planets flung out. Really dude? If I owned this channel I woulda fired him for the embarrassment.

If they could see Pluto years ago. And Pluto is very small. Why can’t they see a planet that’s 10 times bigger than earth. We have known about Planet X for years. But now it’s coming out. Seems fishy to me

For those who believe in the existence of Nibiru, it is a planet that is characterized by a unique gravitational force
This force results in different forms of natural disasters

Nibiru in Sumerian mythology has a orbit of 3600 years to 4 parts =14, 400 year orbit . Sumerian Mythology says it's far beyond pluto. And that the planet is bigger than earth . So did they read the texts and look for the anomalies to prove the planet or did they stumble across them while researching the solar system and follow the anomalies. Time will tell if its out there or not.

These people are barely finding out about the 9th planet when the sumerian already knew it existed 10, 000 years ago. A clay tablet depicts it and they named it Nibiru.

If we are in a binary star system, and the red sun is larger than ours might our sun and planets be going around it and planet X ?

The question about the planet being so far out and still being under the domain of the Sun's gravity was a good one. Of course, any object more in the vicinity of the sun than in the vicinity of another star is going to be more influenced by the sun. But I'd like to know the acceleration, the gee's, that would be exerted on me by the Sun at the earth's orbit as compared to far out by the Kuiper planet. I think the former is a tenth or hundredth gee (half a hundredth--just looked it up). The latter would've been interesting to hear.

Pluto: plz don’t replace me :(
Planet X: yes I’m the new planet.

This is fascinating! We need to find out in detail what a planet between Earth's mass and Neptune's mass is like. Also, the "Big Bang" was not an explosion. It's the rapid expansion of the our universe.

G... I thought I was really ignorant about the solar system and planetary things ... Turns out after watching this show ... I'm a damn genius!
