I do so enjoy your lists. Even at 67 you often have things I wasn’t aware of. I enjoy learning. Thank you.

Thank you for another great list Mike! It’s gotten where I wait for these to drop…just like I use to anticipate a well loved TV show. 💙

Once in a while you ask for List 25 requests??? How about something like “25 Things YouTubers Do That You Don’t Know About”??? 😅😅😮😮

I don't want flying cars. Look how badly people drive in two dimensions. I shudder to think what it would be like when they have a third to mess up.

Back around 1981 or 1982, I was listening to an interview on CBC radio. The host was speaking with a man from one of the major telephone tech companies. When asked about future developments, he described how they were working on a system that would use a network of repeaters so that you could bounce a phone call all over the world without wires. He said it had been labelled a cellular network. While it wasn't precisely an SF prediction come true, he said future phones would be much like the Star Trek communicator; as long as you knew the ID number of someone's device, you could call them anywhere in the world.

Another "prediction" was the story Waldo by Robert A. Heinlein published in 1942. An inventor with a disease that made him extremely weak, invented a machine. By wearing a glove, he could control a powerful mechanical hand to perform taks for himself. In later years, remote manipulators were actually developed. One notable use of these has been for handing radioactive material with the operator safe behind shielding. Many of this remote manipulators came to be called waldoes thanks to Heinlein's story.

Hi Mike, greetings from Germany! My daughter now has a 3-D printer and she made me the same green sea turtle (in green) as a gift name tag last Christmas!
When I was little, my brother and I were absolutely sci-fi crazy and read all of those authors you mentioned and many, many more. It really is wild just how much Asimov, Heinlein, Clarke et al predicted. Much love xoxo

Isaac Asimov predicted artificial intelligence in 1940's, about two decades before Authur C. Clark discussed it on the BBC. Asimov's robot series introduced a "positronic" brain (referenced in Star Trek's "Data" character) that could learn, adapt and evolve. While Asimov did not call this feature "artificial intelligence, " it meets the definition. And while H.G. Wells IA arguably among the greatest sci-fi writers, I would advocate that Asimov favorably competes for that title. AmingvAsimov's most frightening predictions that seems very likely is what he called social-history, the study if society that allows highly accurate predictions of cultural changes fa into the future. This used the science of mathematical probabilities and human behavior to calculate the date and magnitude of major cultural revolutions, even the collapse of entire worlds, very similar to your list included the 50 year cycle of history. Asimov fell from popularity because he adamantly refused to include sentient extra terrestrial life. Perhaps his Jewish training prohibited any imago dei except humans. Curiously, his writings seldom revealed any other hint in a belief in the God of Abraham.
Finally, I watch your videos more than any other. I wish to express my admiration for your scholarly research, creatuve presentation and professionalism. I rarely find anything i could legitimately dispute, I am always surprised and entertained, and your manner, elocution and bearing add the right amount of humor and candor.
Well done.
Thank you.

1984's Dune had a hunter seeker too. The one Mike's referring to is the remake.

Flying cars is an atc problem, not a car problem. Can you imagine a fender bender with multiple fatalities?

The Kelloggs family originate from my little town here in England. A little old place where a certain group of lads known as The Prodigy also grew up.
