Good video.
Think I'd opt for a bivvy rather than the tent.
Impressed by that water filter's capacity.

I would add a mylar blanket because being out in the cold in the mountains is no joke. Then I would add a flashlight, and my custom made first aid kit.

JMHO- if we're talking
" bugout" in the proper sense,
you'll not want to make a bushcrafty campsite that
any experienced hunter can
find. You'll either want to be
stealthily moving toward your
retreat/base/community, or
getting a couple hours rest.
No fire to give you away. No
shooting unnecessarily. No
building shelters. No cooking
to give your position away.
USGI poncho and liner to
roll up in like a burrito.
However much known pure
water you can carry. High
energy food that can be eaten
while moving without cooking
or heating. Very basic FAK.
Spare socks. Some cordage
and 20-30- 40 feet of strong
rope to let yourself down a
steep embankment with.
The pocket contents that you
should already have, and that
should get you to your safe
zone unless you look for a
fight. You might get awakened
at o'dark thirty by the boys
from "THE ROAD " combing
the brush trying to find whoever made those muddy
footprints at creek bank trying
to fill a water bottle.
You'll have to immediately
jump up and haul a$$ and
breaking down a camp won't
be an option.
Stay a LRRP, stay alive

Add a compass so you can find your way back to your car or whatever you might need to return to. Take a bearing before going into the bushes to go pee so you can reliably find your way back to your tent/camp. People get lost that way on the AT and PCT all the time.

The "challenge" here, folks, is SEVEN items. You can interpret this as seven "essentials" (meaning, you would have more) or "ONLY 7" (meaning, just those). And, remember, it's only for a few days.

For me, I would focus on SHELTER (anything protective from the elements, including clothing, an umbrella, insulation capabilities, etc....maybe even mosquitoes/bugs), WATER, and FIRE. A few _Millennium Bars_ and caffeine if possible.

Survival will be uncomfortable. You just need to make it through a few days in this exercise.

Sharpening stone or a mini knife sharpener comes in handy. I'd also add a multi tool/leather-man/Swiss Army wife/knife edc just in case. Plus a cheapo burner phone wrapped in a ziplock freezer bag and a basic first aid kit.
Nearby mudslide might come in handy in case you're being stalked by a PREDATOR.
Sic vis pacem para bellum.

The metal bottle has to be single wall if you’re going to use it to boil water.

Excellent video. The only suggestion would be to drop the tube tent and add a heavy weight mylar rescue blanket 6'x8'. Still lighter than a tube tent and more versatile. Good video

There is an item that everybody left out. An item that i would definitely have in ‘my’ bug out bag: a GUN.

Okay, I'll play along. Which water filter is that?
Doesn't look like any other filter I've seen before.

not much stuff is requires if it's 60F, no bugs, no wind or rain, but that's true only about 10% of the time in the Us. The other 90% of the time, it's raining, hot, buggy, gold, windy, etc So the odds are 10 to 1 that you aint got enough stuff

I was curious as to what you would have in there & would any of it be the same as mine? I have to say every item you brought out I was saying: “Yep, got it.” Only other things I have since I’m in a cooler climate is a survival &/or army issue wool blanket & some energy bars. Nice job Jason!

Great video. Instead of using the tent halves in basic training. Sergeant had us use our paracord and rain poncho for a fast shelter to set up and take down.
