In this video I tour my 160 square metre chicken run, pointing out the features that work for me, and suggestions for you (even you’ve got or are planning a much smaller set up!) My chickens never ever leave this ‘compound’ - I feel it is big enough and diverse enough to keep them happy, while also protecting them from foxes, dogs, eagles etc (all of which there are plenty in my area!). I really love what I’ve created, and it’s my hope that by sharing it with you you can take tips and inspiration for your own happy chicken set up!

That is the best idea I have ever seen - usually they have the coop and run separate from the garden, and it also protects the plants too. I have many night visitors like possums and other animals foraging around at night and they eat young plants which is really annoying when you are trying to get them to grow. Also, the chicks need protection from everything too. So Wonderful.

I had the idea of fencing in an orchard and letting chickens in to wander around and do their thing. But this plan is EXPONENTIALLY better!! Love, love, LOVE this!

I absolutely love this layout....it is fantastic and very versatile. But by far the best part is when going through detailing everything so precisely she say "Also they will be shitting in the 😂🤣😂

Wow, amazing set up and tour! We’ve recently bought a house with a chicken palace (no where near as big as chicken city) and we’re thinking of putting some dwarf fruit trees and berries in for shade and interest. This has spurred me on that is the right way to go. Now in rethinking our veggie garden set up 🤣
Look forward to watching your back catalogue of videos and checking out the podcast. Kath & Kim absolutely perfect Aussie names! Have a great weekend!

This is amazing! I love systems that work this well. I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to steal this idea. It's my only hope against the Florida squirrels

This is absolutely genius! Hubby and I just purchased land ( 2 weeks til settlement 🎉). Going from suburbia to rural nsw acreage, where we have kangaroos rabbits wombats and possibly goannas ! I’ve been stressing about keeping my girls and food safe! So glad I found you!!!!

This is wonderful! I'm looking for a house in the country, and have been thinking about doing something like this, except the rooms (and a corridor). In each room the chickens would spend a year, followed by heavy feeding annual crops for a year, followed by less hungry annual cross the next year, until the chickens returned to feed the soil.
