A girl sat behind me in school and just reached out and started playing with my hair and I asked what she was doing and she was like “I’m sorry, it’s just so beautiful”. On a whim I was like “just don’t cut it or anything crazy” and gave her free reign over my hair for the period. I left the class everyday after that with a new hairstyle and a new best friend

I had super curly hair as a kid, and kids would get in trouble for messing with it. I always felt so bad, though, and I would feel guilty every time. I was in religious schooling, so teachers had LASER EYES for any physical contact. I'm sure I would have wanted that protection if I didn't have it, though. 😅

Aww. I can imagine that so clearly. A pity you never got a chance to ask on the playground, because consensual hair braiding is a great time. 😅

When I was in primary school, there was a “no touching at all” rule, we would get in trouble for trying to braid each other’s hair. So we had an illegal hair braiding operation in this really long tunnel in the playground that was too small for any of the adults to climb into. It was always completely consensual, one of the girls who had really good parents very specifically taught us what consent was, and I’m happy to say the underground hair braiding ring never got found out 😎

One of my happiest memories of kindergarten is us all sitting on the mat listening to the teacher read a story while the girl behind me braided my hair.

One of the things i miss from being a girl (man now) is those times when one of my classmates would braid my hair during library time, it made me feel so loved <3

Aww that’s sweet and I’m glad you felt bad.
I had really really long hair when I was younger and kids would always comment on it or mess with it or braid it without permission. I always hated it and it turned out to be a big insecurity as I grew older so it’s kinda sweet knowing people admire it but can acknowledge mistakes.
