The single joystick, 480p resolution and white aesthetic make this feel like the Dreamcast handheld to me.

Love the video! For what it’s worth, I subscribed for this kind of content. Lol. Looking at your channel, I’ll be hanging around for a lot more. Cheers!

Just ordered mine, great vid, can't wait to finally get it 😁

also, has anyone told you, you look and sound a bit like Michael Ironside 🤔

Imagine how awesome this system would be if it had a recessed 3DS circle pad top left, and D-pad, center left.

the shoryuken portion of the video seems like its user error, just watching your inputs. SF2 is pretty strict on its inputs and even I have trouble reliably doing shoryukens in it.

Size wise I'd say is really close to an RGB30 (give or take on thickness)
Pocketable but just barely IMO unless you have small pockets. For me screens smaller than 4in always leaves a nagging feeling of "bit too small" so I've avoided buying anymore compact pocket size devices. Though there is not many 4in screen devices.
4in screen clamshell with only 1 stick running Linux would be absolutely perfect for me.

My only 2 issues with this device is that it’s not very pocketable and that there is no non-transparent black version of it. Lol besides that it’s awesome

If you change os to knulli, can you still change thumbstick colours? Or is it stuck on standard?

You missed to mention the RG35XX Plus as an option, which BTW is the one I ordered a few days ago before knowing the RG40XXV existed 😓 (ugh)

i got the Trimui brick and the only reason i picked that one up instead of this one is because it reminded me of a gameboy color with its size lol

To me, this thing is a Genesis/SNES/Neo Geo system.
The 4in screen is perfect for 16bit.
Likewise with Miyoo Mini+. It's handheld only. Trying to read RPG text on a 3.5" is no bueno.

Would be very interested in knowing how the streetfighter test compares with the rg35xxsp *for you*.
I couldn’t get even the fireballs to land super reliably on the sp and I love SF2 :)

Ive always been curious if devices like these come preloaded with games or I have to add my own roms when I get it?

Man, the RG40XXV is *almost* what I am looking for :/ I cant enjoy the Miyoo Mini+ and prefer about the size of the OG Gameboy. I wish the XXV would be more like the Analogue Pocket, without a joystick, even L1+R2 for SNES isnt necessary. IMO a vertical handheld should be focus on GB/GBC/NES without any compromise, for SNES/N64/PS1 upwards or those who wanna play *everything* with one device choose a horizontal handheld anyways.

Hello dear sir, if you don't mind I had a question I'd like you to answer. Which handheld would you recommend for a budget of $40 ?

11:43 ... my man, you are playing a Super NES game. That game "The legend of zelda: a link to the past (1991)" is designed for a DPAD hence, of course you are going to have cardinal snapping because the emulator is translating your analog stick signal to digital d-pad inputs (most likely you are using retroarch). With all due respect sir, you are talking bs here. Sorry. Now IF you tried this with Mario 64 or Ocarina of Time, then yes I would take this seriously, but specifically you showcased this issue with a 8 way dpad 16 bit SNES game.

You can't use a joystick to test for 8 way on zelda.. the game only has 8 ways of movement period. I got mines and the analog works perfectly stock OS
