Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR 2019 - FIRST exclusive quick look in 4K

Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR 2019 is the strongest GTI in the latest version of the 7 Series, before reveal of the new 8 series end of this year. Volkswagen just revealed it in Vienna Auto Show 2019.

TCR stands for Touring Car Racing dedicated to racing contest.

Engine

TCR is featuring strongest version of 2.0 TSI turbocharged engine producing 290 HP. That is 60 HP more than standard GTI and 20 HP more than R-Line version.

New TCR has front wheel drive, a limited-slip differential and 7-speed automatic DSG, achieving 0 - 100 (62) in 6.0 sec. It's top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mp/h). You can pay extra 2.350 € for limit raised to 260 km/h (161 mp/h) in that case you get 0 - 100 in 5.6 sec.

Style

New TCR comes with more powerful brakes, 18" alloy wheels and new front and rear bumpers for better air flow.

You can order optional titanium exhaust instead of standard steel and 19" alloy wheels and lowered suspension that can be adjusted between comfort and sport settings.

Interior

Inside you get completely new black-red interior with microfiber elements like in Audi S line brothers. Red elements are in dashboard, steering wheel, gear lever and doors, and even the seatbelts come with red stitching. No more that outdated and boring tartan pattern.

Price and release date

GTI TCR is starting sale this February. Starting price in Germany is 38.950,00 €.

They moved the windshield washer assembly in the engine bay you missed wonder why? standard flor mats are different to. I'd like that front bumper assembly but then I'd have to switch to the mk7.5 frontal alert system.

For 2020 the Golf R will have 400 HP with a 4 cylinder and 48-volt electric system with a mild-hybrid setup.

Golf GTI may also get the same system.

I don't want a car that is electric powered. As there's a chance the new powertrain will add weight affecting handling, and will diminish the exhaust and engine sound due to having a hybrid system.

Man I love this GTI but I would put my money elsewhere for 40k. Base GTI is still the one that makes the most sense.
