What is the first weapon you think of when you talk about ancient long-range weapons? Probably a bow or the more recent crossbow. What about the Sling? This seemingly very simple weapon consisting of only ropes and a stone was much more effective than the bow. For example, you have probably heard the story of how David, armed with a sling, was able to defeat the huge enemy Goliath. And you probably think that's just a legend. But the people of antiquity knew what this formidable weapon was capable of.

You can find stories of how the slinger could kill a bull from a distance of 500 feet [150 meters]! And with a single blow. And the Hero of Alexandria, a Greek mathematician and engineer, wrote that a lead projectile fired from a sling would pierce a bronze cuirass and get stuck in the body of the opponent. And no special projectiles were needed for this weapon. When you ran out of ammunition, you could just start shooting rocks.

Later in the Middle Ages, people decided to modify this weapon and built a giant version of the Sling, which could throw a 300-pound [135 kg] projectile!

We are going to tell you how this weapon killed half of all Europeans and why the Conquistadors were so afraid of this Aztec sword. And how the Chinese invented the first-hand cannon.

The earliest use of the Chinese crossbow was actually 200BC. It was mounted on a platform due to it's size. Chu-ko-nu or Chu-ko-lian-nu was used during Three Kingdom era, which was 220 to 280 AD, designed by the man, Chu-ko Liang.

Some interesting history between ancient Vietnam and China. History said a Chinese prince asked for a Vietnamese princess hand in marriage with the aim to steal the heavenly arrow weapon. This story has been told for generations for over a thousand years.

It's not Cho-Ko-Nu, it's Zhuge Nu, named after Zhuge Liang. It basically means Zhuge's bow. He was the guy who invented the weapon.

Seeing slinger, jaguar warrior, Warwolf and Chu-Ko-Nu reminded me of Age of Empires 2 and how historically accurate it may be. Awesome video 🎉

Another thing about the sling : It can easily outrange bows. Especially earlier bows. In armies with both bowmen and slingers, the sling where normally located behind the bows.

lets be honest tho, in chraftmanships honor, the Trebouchet was not simple,
it may look like it for some today, but going into how it actually works its rather complicated and even more so due to the share size of them,

That's just one of dozens of hypothetical ways the plague could have spread. And it's actually one of the least likely explanations. Considering there where several waves of plague with some happening prior to this siege, it's far more likely to just have been another contributing factor to one of the earlier waves.

The Romans used an autoloading spearthrower around 100ac. Could fire 2 spears the second from a 25 shoot magacine. and sit on two wheels to carry it . Then you need around 10 min. to reload and wind up. So it was mostly used at the beginning of a fight. Not realy a crossbow, but nearby.

32 - 50 rocket arrows isn't a minigun at all. Kpinga's with a handle aren't guaranteed to hit with an edge and most shown are made of steel.
