Did you know that there was a time when Bavaria was a soviet republic? Here's a very brief run-down of how it came to be and what happened to it.

It's funny, because Bavaria is nowadays seen as one of the most conservative places in Germany.

Woo! Another video from rewboss! Hilarious how a Bavarian near Switzerland learns about the Bavarian Soviet Republic from an Englishman with a german ID.

Oh, so if the Bavarian Soviet Republic had survived into the Space Race and replaced the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, I am guessing that Markus Soeder's face would actually be send into space on Bavaria One?

"History that deserves to be remembered" or rather: called into general attention as Eisner and his times are largely forgotten. Thanks for doing this.

Idk why this was recommended to me but I'm definitely not complaining.

Thank you very much for this historical memory! Only three short remarks:
- In the time of the German Monarchy 1871 until 1918 the German Kaiser/ Emperor was not the "boss" of the King of Bavaria. Germany was a Federation of 22 monarchies and 3 republics. Especially Bavaria had far-reaching, so-called "Reservation rights": an own Army, an own Foreign Ministry with diplomatic representations all over Europe, an own tax system, own Railway and Postal Services and so on. This Reservation Rights were than all abolished by the constitution of the Weimar Republic which was a major impact on Right-Wing-Policies in Bavaria from 1919 onwards.
- The political Left Wing in Bavaria was splitted into three parts which were bitter enemies to each other: the Independent Social Democrats (Kurt Eisner), the Anarchists (Gustav Landauer, Erich Mühsam, Ernst Toller) and the Communists (Max Levien, Eugen Leviné and Rudolf Egelhofer as Commander of the "Red Army of Bavaria"). Toller, also a famous poet, wrote later his great drama "Masse Mensch" about this conflicts among the revolutionaries.
- There was a direct link between some right-wing-troups who crashed the Bavarian Soviet Republic in May 1919 and the Nazis: a couple of later leading members of the Nazi-Party were members of the so-called "Freikorps Epp", a voluntary right-wing-militia under the command of General Ritter von (Knight of) Epp, who was responsible for a lot of killings of neutral civilians in this fight: Adolf Hitler himself, Ernst Röhm, Rudolf Hess, Hans Frank and also Epp as example´s.

Klasse!

My grandmother, may she rest in peace, once asked at my parents coffee table on a Sunday afternoon, that she wanted another cup of "Negerschweiss" (N-Word + sweat /perspiration). My parents kept quite, but later on I told my grandmother to stop using that word. She was sorry and said it was just an old habit. She never used that word again and so in the end I forgave her.

Very interesting! It reminds me of what Gustav von Kahr did in Bavaria just a few years later in 1923. You might consider doing a video about that event :)

do you already have plans for you destination 2021 videos, or will you maybe even do some this year, since the restrictions on travel are being lifted a bit again?
I'd love to see you visit some of the ruhr area, as it is very important to german history.

The Bavarian King would have strenously objected to the idea that the German Kaiser was his "boss".

Wait, shouldn't it say сове́тская instead of совемская at 2:24 (sovyetskaja, not sovyemskaja)?

Not that I speak any Russian myself, but I don't think I've ever seen it with an м.
