First of all, I will say this. BBQ is all about your own personal preference.

However, in my opinion, Texas Style is superior and it has been exported globally.

We’ve managed to do more with less.

With that said, we are starting to see a BBQ evolution where different cultures are adding their spices to the Texas way. It is glorious.

I flew to Texas (From NC) just for Goldee's just because of a youtube video i found from Alvin Zhou. It was 100% worth the trip. I plan on going again at some point.

BBQ is all about preference, but the argument can be made that Texas style is the most pure because it is the least dependent on spices and sauce, and is all about meat and smoke.

it's not over rated it's just over priced!

In Texas it would take a lifetime to visit most of the BBQ joints in Texas .

Its pretty good. Probably not worth a trip down to Texas just for BBQ, but if you're in the area, it's definitely worth a try. Be prepared to pay for it though lol, its not cheap.

Texas BBQ is amazing! I've never been to any of these establishments but they all look awesome. Rudy's is a chain but they have good BBQ. Nothing as good as BBQ beef ribs.

For Nostalgias sake I prefer Eastern Carolina vinegar based pulled pork but if I want what barbecue sauce I'm going Texas brisket all the time

I am from Texas and some of the best and I mean hands down the best BBQ I have ever had was from a roadside seller. Not saying those larger operation don't have damn good BBQ but they don't compare to some of the mom and pop road side pit/small hole in the wall BBQ places.

No way but Turkey is clearly better than Beef but very sadly unpopular. Eaten as ham it nails well, hopefully it gets more available and attention especially if served spicy in Texas and abroad.

Should’ve gone down to Lufkin and tried Stringer’s as well as Killen’s in Houston.

Goldees is not considered the best BBQ in Texas by anyone except those in Dallas/Ft. Worth, a town which is basically in 4th place of Texas major cities when it comes to food and restaurants.

YES, went to numerous BBQ joint while working throughout Texas. All reminded of a Corporate BBQ Entity called Buster's BBQ.

Made comment at one of the establishments visited. They didn't take it very well, packed up my food & asked me to leave.

Can't even be honest these days! 😇

I think for items outside of brisket it can be a bit bland. I prefer Carolina pulled pork for example or moresaued smoky ribs. I do think though Texas restaurants in general are just in a different league when it comes to the actual cooking portion of the food and consistently. I've had Franklins 6 times and th food tastes the same every time and the consistency in quality is always there. You cannot say the same about other regions.
