I used to hate kimchi. I hated the smell and everything about it. Now I eat kimchi with literally every meal. It’s an addiction at this point

This happens a lot. People try a unknown food for the 1st time but wasn't properly made or cook. Then you write off that same dish for the rest of your life. Later on try the same dish but by a better cook and you realize that the 1st dish you ate was the REAL problem. Then you think "Man! this is good, I could have eaten this a long time ago multiple times if that cook wouldn't have given it a bad 1st impression." It gives you the I missed out feeling.

I love how jeanell talks about foods as if it’s a cult like ‘convert them?’

I’m scared

I used to HATE pasta, like regular red sauce and spaghetti
when I started cooking by myself and looking up recipes I found out the pasta I had been presented to by my family was just underseasoned (thanks, british part of the family for that one)
one of my fave things to cook now..

I have one major rule in my life and that is.
"If you don't like barbecue we can't be friends!"

Reminds me of my first time eating squid. It was sooo hard and gummy, I couldn't even swallow it. But my mom told me that it wasn't the best, and that she had squid which was way betrer. So I'm gonna try it again sometime when I have the opportunity

I worked at a very good local BBQ spot. We had a regular customer that would get a full rack of baby back ribs and a full rack of beef ribs every week. He was a solid 400-450 lbs. One day I (when I wasn’t working) he came in as usual and before he finished he keeled over on the table, then the floor, dead.

He died the way he lived, face full of good food and a heart full of cholesterol. I’ll miss you big bastard, always was a nice guy.

This is the exact same thing I've been telling my cousin for years in relation to sushi. "You just haven't found the kind that you like yet". He finally found it and he loves it now!

This was me with steak and brisket. Then my uncle made the best steak and brisket ever. It was so tender, flavorful, real easy to chew

If you like American BBQs then you’ll LOVE South African braais. It’s pretty similar but we cook the meat over a fire and even when the meat and garlic bread or braai broodjie is all cooked, we keep the fire lit and gather around it for the rest of the day. It’s an amazing tradition. From a proudly South African 🇿🇦❤️‍🔥

I'm not saying this because yall are Asian but growing up in Texas I used to hate Chinese food. I couldn't stand it, but while in high-school I had a friend that was Vietnamese and he used to take me to a bunch of different Asian food places. This particular restaurant called Hunan Gardens has some of the best food I've ever eaten. I started getting orange chicken and when he told me I only get that every time we go I decided to switch it up and get mandarin shrimp. Basically the same dish but with shrimp instead of chicken. I still go there to this very day and get the mandarin shrimp. I loved that place so much when I first started dating my wife I asked her if she likes Chinese food and she said no. I laughed and told her to get ready because we're going to a Chinese restaurant. Long story short we go 3 or 4 times a month and split the mandarin shrimp. So good.
