If you're wondering about the discrepancy, both North Carolina and South Carolina claim that Andrew Jackson was born in their state.

Edit: I'm sorry Tennessee! James Polk moved to Tennessee when he was 11 and Andrew Johnson moved to Tennessee when he was 14 or 15, so based on that you could argue that 13 Presidents technically moved to different states as a kid. Based on this, Tennessee should be pink on the map, although I still say Johnson was basically an adult by the time he was there. Regardless...again...I'm so sorry to disrespect you like that Tennessee. That was out of line.

Honorable mention to the fact that New Hampshire's one president was so bad the slogan for his own party at the next election was 'anyone but Pierce'

No presidents were born in Tennessee but 3 of them made it their home for much of their lives, Andrew Jackson, James K Polk, and Andrew Johnson.

This is especially significant when talking about them as presidents, because each one largely built their political careers as Tennesseans.

Plus, at the church I grew up in, Polk’s wife had a pew dedicated to her, presumably because she went to the church, or at least donated. Yes, it’s a very old church, and yes, those pews were very old. It was a hospital during the Civil War.

Although Vermont has the 2nd-lowest population out of the 50 states, two presidents were born in there: Chester Arthur and Calvin Coolidge. So Vermont is the opposite of Florida.

Florida has only been one of the top states by population for a far less amount of time than some of the others, so it makes sense there's no presidents from there, yet. Same thing with California, though they had Nixon.

States like Ohio and Virginia have higher populations and more relevance in the past than they do today proportional to the other states.

Im from Ohio, I legitimately believe the only way we can escape Ohio is to either become president or move to Florida, there is no in-between.

More than half of all presidents have been born in just four states: Virginia, Ohio, New York, and Massachusetts

Although born in Nebraska, Gerald Ford’s family moved 16 days after to Michigan where he grew up.

Grant lived in Vancouver. There’s a house called “The Grant House”. Technically it was still the Oregon Territory and not Washington State yet.

My dumb a** thought Dwight D. Eisenhower was born in Kansas so much for our Kansas president

Roosevelt always said that his time in North Dakota is what made him the man who could be president.

Some guy from Florida ate pancakes in the middle of the road (he deserves presidency)

The closest Louisiana got was Huey P. Long, but he was assassinated right before he could try

The fact that Maryland was made so early on and was even the capital at one point, but a president never lived there is surprising.
