I've known about this city and the rest of East Prussia for a while now, but each time I see it, I'm still hurt. I wish Ostpreußen was still part of Germany and that WWII has never happened. The sheer loss of quality architectural history that was lost and information, Kant's items, his museum, the area all of it. Gone. It hurts to see.

Bir Türk olarak Könisnberg şehrini bu halde görünce içim parçalandı. Ruslar ikinci dünya savaşında Doğu Prusya topraklarında etnik temizlik yaparken bu bölgeyi kendine bağladı bir parçasını da Polonyaya verdiler, Alman halkı mülteci oldu. Ancak felaket bununla kalmayıp aynı zamanda mimari olarak inanılmaz bir tahribat söz konusu. Bu arada hiç bir zaman medyada katliama etnik temizlige uğramış Almanların hikayelerini duymuyoruz bu çok berbat ve ikiyüzlü durum. Çok üzüldüm. Keşke hep Alman toprağı olarak kalsaydın Könisnberg ve Doğu Prusya. 😢

What would have happened if the allies had put their foot down with Stalin at Potsdam in July 1945 and given all of East Prussia to Poland? What would have happened if that bomb in the briefcase in July 1944 had been placed on the other side of the table leg and killed Hitler? The RAF did not destroy Konigsberg and all of its priceless architectural treasures until August 1944. The comparison of the amazing Teutonic Knight's Castle complex to that Soviet concrete monstrosity built in its place makes me want to throw up.

My Grandma was born in January, 1939 in Königsberg Ostpreußen. Now she is 85 years old. It’s a pitty that Königsberg is just a Fragment of time and when the last citizen from Königsberg is death, Königsberg is death too !! 😢
