Crusty playing/fighting stuff on the floor and being more active is a sign that hes a little restless just like you thought, but its actually also a sign that hes getting comfortable in your house and now considers it his. Hes an old cat so its really impressive that hes playing like that, its a sign hes healthy, feeling good, and is comfortable in the environment you provide. In his mind, you're his family and he'll let you live there because he loves you, but its his apartment lol

My grumpy old man cat (he’s 12-13yrs old, somewhere around there) and he looooves trying to escape and get outside so I decided to do the whole “walk your cat” thing too...

At first, he HATED his harness and freeeeaked out, doing full body panic rolls and yowling...but I worked with him for about a week, putting the harness on once a day and leaving it on him while inside til he got used to it...then I introduced him to the leash and took him outside immediately.

Now he will “ask” me to go outside by rubbing his face on his harness/leash and meowing...so I guess instead of training him, he’s trained me 🤷🏼‍♀️

this video got recommended to me after i saw the video about crusty passing away, i don't think i can watch this video anymore, especially after safiya said "do you think we can live without him?" to tyler. it hits hard.

This is the first (if only!) video I've seen of people trying to walk their cat in a humane and caring way. I'm sooo impressed by how compassionate you and Tyler are to Crusty's needs and how good of cat parents you are! This video was AWESOME, and I love that you actually took it slow and tried it out and didn't just turn it into a stupid "lol dragging cats" video. Kudos!
