Star Wars & LOTR Politics: The Will To Power

Star Wars and Lord of the Rings are stories about POWER | Who has power, who wants power, and who is willing to use it. Whether its Boromir, Gandalf, and the temptation of the Ring of Power, the symbolism of the Death Star, or Anakin Skywalker's longing for a philosopher king...these stories have a lot to teach us about real-world politics.

STEPHEN KENT of Geeky Stoics spoke on the main stage of LIBERTYCON in Washington, D.C. to an international gathering of student freedom activists about these great stories and where they connect to political division. Stephen looks at populism, communism, and divides within the conservative-libertarian movement and ties it all back to our willingness to use POWER to achieve "good" ends.

Absolutely excellent. Lucas was so subtle. Maybe that’s why I’ve got the rebel insignia on my shield. lol I’ve been a rebel against illegitimate authority since I was a kid. Star Wars and LOTOR just fanned the flames of Liberty.
