When I was young, I used to go to the cockpit frequently (DC-9s, 727s). The last time was in 2004. I recognized a pilot from a DVD I had, spoke with him, and he let me into the cockpit. When the lady asking for the boarding pass asked who I was, she said, "He's my nephew." During the flight, I didn't go to the cockpit, but they put the conversations with ATC over the speakers. The landing was so smooth that I didn't notice. I only realized we had touched down when I heard the reversers.

I flew in a Cubana Tupolev about 30 years ago. From Havana to Germany. Got a chance to visit the cockpit with a brilliant Cuban crew.... and noticed all the cockpit equipment was in russian cyrillic.... !! during landing in Cuba they announced in English only to the mainly German tourists, that becuase of the very high humidity there would be air vapour coming out of the vents. Most people did not understand this and there was mild panic when thick white steam started pouring out of the air vents.

As a Canadian, we travel to Cuba a lot. We love the Cuban people, the island has beautiful beaches and resorts. We are very saddened by the embargo that has kept average Cubans pinned down, very sad. The US needs to stop this it's been going on way to long.

About 14 years ago, I arrived at London Stansted on an easyJet flight from Amsterdam. As we pulled up to the gate, I was shocked to see a Cubana IL-96 parked at the next gate!! I have no idea what it was doing there, whether it was a regular scheduled service, a charter flight, or a diversion (I live on the wrong side of London to know much about what goes on at Stansted!), but seeing it there made my day. 😊

Ex-cabin crew here and one of the most amazing experiences was being able to sit in the flight deck for take off and landing, (with permission and providing all doors were covered 😅) For many years now, passenger flight deck visits were taken away and it’s so cool you got to experience that! Many Cubans have never flown Cubana. I wanted when I was a kid, but not anymore. I'm glad that everything went better than even yourself expected. Your attitude is amazing. You were patient and positive and I think that may have opened some doors for you.

I went to Cuba back in 2016. It is a very interesting experience. I flew a domestic route. I dondt remember what kind of plane it was. But it was an old Russian transport aircraft. They had basically just installed seats in the cargo compartment 😂 No comfort at all. The plane had technical issues. So we had to wait for a technician. He sat back in the plane with a bag with tools 😜 I was quite happy when we landed safely.

But what I learned from three weeks at Cuba is that they always find a solution. Very nice people everywhere. Nice video!

Thank you for showing my home country. I have watched quite a few of your vids, but have never seen you so excited before. I usually avoid Cubana due to their safety record, but used to fly with them when I lived on the island. Flying those AN-24 and their now retired YAK-42 was quite an experience. Safe travels Josh.
