This just unbricked my phone from a permanent bootloop caused by factory-resetting my Nexus 5x from Android O. You saved my life.

Awesome Phil, this helped me side load an update to my Pixel.

Issue for those interested: An OTA automatic update was failing (corrupted file?). The Pixel was automatically downloading and failing to install the update countless times, chewing through around 4gb of data in 24 hours. (mobile data too, and limiting background data use did not stop it). After contacting Google, they recommended sideloading the OTA images, but the Google devs website is a little light on instructions for a novice like me.

Thanks for this, it helped. I have flashed ROMS before but never used adb. If you cant find your platform tools, just search the drive you installed the sdk tools on and you will find it.

@Phil Bourget - Thanks for this @ the 4.28 marker: GO INTO PLATFORM-TOOLS folder & SHIFT RIGHT CLICK to get the correct Command line drive syntax!

This was a 1 day search as to why I couldn't get the Command line 'adb sideload' to work in the Run Command popup box.
Basically I couldn't get the right drive to be assigned to my command line scripted!
You saved my N9!!
