The ULTIMATE Call Of Duty Zombies Retrospective

Yes, this is what I've been working on relentlessly for the past months. Call of duty zombies is a game mode that has a very special place in my heart. So I thought it was only appropriate to look back on all the different iterations, and give my thoughts and opinions on how the games evolved. I was considering splitting the video up into parts, but I personally prefer this long form content, although I have left timestamps to the different games.

0:00 - World at War
31:38 - Black Ops
1:18:14 - Black Ops 2
2:35:10 - Exo Zombies
2:41:26 - Black Ops 3
3:55:17 - Infinite Warfare
4:01:46 - WWII
4:04:04 - Black Ops 4
5:29:23 - Cold War
5:59:45 - Vanguard

I still remember playing Kino De Toten and getting the thunder gun for the first time, and my friend saying "Dude, what would happen if you pack a punched it?" and screaming as we discovered the Zeus Cannon. Simpler times, man

As terrifying as it was for 8 year old me at the time, I will never regret sitting through the credits of WaW and suddenly ending up in a boarded up building surround by darkness and ominous fog as zombies started tearing down all the barriers and all I had was a 1911. That memory will always stay with me.

43:20 I will never forget the day I was playing an online match with three random people

We camped on the elevator upstairs and all of us expect one guy went down and he was low on ammo when, at the moment he was about to be overrun, he got the death machine perk and won us the round. Of course we lost the next round because none of us had guns or much points but the moment forever lives on in my memory

Fun fact: the Pack A Punch was originally slated to appear on Shi No Numa, but was pushed back to Der Riese due to time constraints. But if you check the code, there are still remnants of pack a punched guns that are fully modeled and ready to use. They'll down you instantly if you use them, but you CAN spawn them in via console commands.

I kinda wish more of the easter eggs were possible solo. It was hard as hell trying to get my friends back in the day to at least try to finish an easter egg. Its even tougher now because they don't want to play it because its "too old".

I can see why transit was so heavily disliked but the glitch where you could get 8 people into the game made the map so good. It was insane having 8 of ur mates all running around the same zombies map. The best part was only the host had to stay in the game for it to run so if one friend had to drop it would be fine and someone else could join. I remember being the host a couple times and ending up with friends of friends etc… being in the game.

Not sure what's more insane: whatever the hell CoD is doing with its zombie lore or the fact that I watched 6 (six) hours worth of some dude with a funny accent break down years worth of maps. Map by map. For six (6) hours.

This 6 hour long retrospective goes along perfectly with the 6 hour long story explanation video

Since Steve Blum always does the same voice, and cod zombies has interdimensional fuckery, my headcanon is that every character he voices is secretly Tank Dempsey.

Man, I'm not lying when I say this probably one of my favorite videos on this platform. This must have taken so much work. Just grabbing all of the footage; completing all of the main quests; exploring the lore; recording the commentary; forming thoughtful opinions. It's truly amazing.
I've been watching this video in parts for almost a week, and it's been more entertaining than watching a show! And I watched this even though I know everything about this incredibly underrated mode.
I have a lot of respect for this video, I hope it keeps getting traction and shows more people how amazing this mode is, and how it could actually could keep producing more bangers in the future.

I still find it crazy that they haven't released a CoD that is just Zombie mode or how another company haven't taken their own spin on a similar formula.

Legendary. CoD zombies had me since 2010. I have since watching a lot of retrospective and lore. So awesome. Also holy shit. 6 hours 👀

4:56:31 to be fair, I don't think it's necessarily a case of them forgetting. You have to remember BoD technically takes place between Zetsebo No Shima and Gorod Krovi, and the crew wasn't officially introduced to Dr. Monty until after killing Ultimas Nikolai, so it makes sense that at this point this is their first time hearing about him.

Cold War is technically set in a rebooted universe but it's still a sequel at the same time to the events that happened prior in Cod Zombies. At the end of Bo4 after Nikolai sends the entire multiverse that was corrupted with 115, keeper and apothicon influence into the dark aether putting an end to all the misery and suffering the cycle had caused Samantha and Eddie walk into the light which was a gateway into a new universe that was initially free from anything having to do with the aether. Until the endstation experiments opened the rift into the dark aether which has since then changed and evolved and yatata. Point being Cw's Samantha and Eddie are the exact same versions from the old aether story and weren't reborn but they just entered that reality as seen at the end of Bo4. However Samantha seems to have amnesia about it and was an orphan upon entering Cw's universe, But it's implied Eddie might remember the past events of the aether story in the god forsaken intel in CW. The only thing similar about this universe to the prior existing ones is that the events of the campaigns play out the same, at least waw and bo1 which lead into this game.

After watching it in one sitting, I can undoubtedly say that this is the most insightful retrospective of Zombies ever done.

I got lost midway the storyline because I stopped playing since BO2, but this video summed up the story, Easter eggs and everything in between in a great way.

Kudos to you and you deserve a whole lot more subscribers tbh.

4:06:56 I rarely see people use this perk but put Ethereal Razor on and make sure it’s in the modifier slot, it’s probably the best part of this entire game

Ah yes, the COD Zombies series. Yet another example of "You either die a Primis or live long enough to see yourself become an Ultimis."

Or however that quote went

As a child playing WaW, I could never play single player zombies. The music was so scary and the feeling of being alone in the map was too much 🤣. The music is the best ever.

I never realized the Vorkuta steps lined up so well with Origins

Honestly, I loved when cod was strictly survival based with a little story through. Loved it when Easter eggs were hidden and a side quest to those who wanted to perform it. A large part of the fun with random players was when half the team knows of the Easter egg and then they would relay and reach others. In return you would attempt it yourself and teach any other randoms who didn’t know of the secret side quest. This to me, is the best balance of cod zombies. Once the Easter eggs started becoming a must do part, the mode became lackluster no matter how great the maps and story were. I loved the simplicity. Once you start having to perform quest in order to survive and go farther. Zombies began to feel like a chore. All of a sudden you found yourself searching up 10-15 min walkthroughs of how to perform every step to complete the Easter egg and story. A large part of the fun for me was sucked out. You lost that slight community element that older titles contained. Now the only community you get are those wanted to go as far as possible or those who don’t care to play zombies because they don’t want to learn the 30 step process to engage in a map.
