Let's start with science and tech. Science of class 9, science of class 10 and biology of class 12. There are some selected chapters related to environment. If we talk about NCERT’s of politics, then Indian Constitutional Network, Political Theory, and Politics and India's Independence. This is more for post-independence history rather than polity If we talk about NCERT’s of economy, then most important Indian Economic Development and then class 10's economics book, class 11th and 12th's macro and micro economics books. The most important ones for geography are class 11th and 12th's 4 NCERT’s. If you don't understand this, then you can do NCERT’s of class 6th to 10th. Now, history is the one subject which has all of these books. Why? Because these are your 3 old NCERT’s. Ancient India, Medieval India, and Modern India. So, these books of class 9th and 10th, India and the Contemporary World, these relate to world history. These books of class 11th, Themes in World History. And then, these books of class 12th, Themes in Indian History, Part 1, 2, and 3, these ancient and medieval history, along with this, NCERT’s of Fine Arts, covers your art and culture.

UPSC Civil Services Exam is one of the most prestigious exams in the country. It has three parts, the Prelims exam, the Main exam and the Personality test, which you need to clear in order to become an IAS or IPS officer. All other Group A services of the Government of India recruit people through the UPSC Civil services exam itself and because of this, there is a lot of competition in this exam. Hence, your UPSC preparation should be strategic, informed and well planned.

Your UPSC preparation should not be based on blind adherence to any program. Rather you should give a thought about how your are preparing. The best way to go forward is to study the blogs and tips given by previous year toppers about how to go about UPSC CSE for all three stages of UPSC Prelims, UPSC Mains and the Personality test also known as the UPSC Interview, and then make your UPSC preparation strategy accordingly.

Doing static subjects like polity, economy, environment, geography and history for your UPSC preparation is a solid bet to increase your chances of clearing this exam. But this must all be supplemented by current affairs for best effect.

Respected Sir, I started preparing for UPSC '26 as I shall be eligible then only to attempt. I'm aiming to finish the syllabus before Feb '25. Started with spectrum along with medieval history, Sir I studied modern completely through ncert, got the pretext of syllabus and dis PYQ of prelims and realised that many questions in Prelims based on facts and statements not in NCERT.
So I started Spectrum Reading and Making a brief notes from it and expectedly complete spectrum shall be summarized within 200 pgs. Guide me sir if I'm on a wrong path. ❤Thank You for your guidance over small steps in preparation.
