I have given 6 attempts of UPSC civil services exam and in that entire section of the bookshelf and this is optional. So I read all these books at that time. Now naturally this is a bit too much. You don't have to do all these books. So let's talk about what is the bare minimum basic resources that you need in order to do well in any of the GS subjects. For history we have 3 books. Spectrum, its latest edition will work. Ancient India and Medieval India. For politics you have Lakshmikant, its latest edition works. And PM Bakshi which is essentially bare acts of the constitution. You can read this online as well. For environment Shankar IAS, its latest edition is also available. So it works. For geography we have 4 books. NCERT of class 11th and 12th and apart from this one Atlas. For economy we have Ketan sir's Indian economy handbook, 1st edition. Great resource for covering all of your basics. For science and tech basics we have NCRTs of class 9th and 10th and biology of class 12th. You don't have to do any of these formulas. Just focus on the concepts. That's it. All the best.

UPSC Civil Services Exam is one of the most prestigious exams in the country. It has three parts, the Prelims exam, the Main exam and the Personality test, which you need to clear in order to become an IAS or IPS officer. All other Group A services of the Government of India recruit people through the UPSC Civil services exam itself and because of this, there is a lot of competition in this exam. Hence, your UPSC preparation should be strategic, informed and well planned.

Your UPSC preparation should not be based on blind adherence to any program. Rather you should give a thought about how your are preparing. The best way to go forward is to study the blogs and tips given by previous year toppers about how to go about UPSC CSE for all three stages of UPSC Prelims, UPSC Mains and the Personality test also known as the UPSC Interview, and then make your UPSC preparation strategy accordingly.

Doing static subjects like polity, economy, environment, geography and history for your UPSC preparation is a solid bet to increase your chances of clearing this exam. But this must all be supplemented by current affairs for best effect.

Books reading just enhances contents of writings and if somewhere we encounter some questions that we know nothing about,
A reader can write about it …

Sir, what are the sources of the static questions from prelims.
Can you please make a detailed prelims prep video, including not only bare minimum but a guaranteed selection and also the strategy to do it such as themes from the pyqs. Benefitted a lot from your previous videos on whimsical diagrams and use of AI.

Please anyone could guide me !
I have just gave my class 10 boards. Now confused about streams . Wasn't good in maths and science as well but I have a deep interest in political science, history mainly i would say in social things. I was in 8 th and dreamed of IAS exam..but heard about many contents and people says that Science and commerce will help more than humanities. What should I do..not have better economic background.
Should I choose my interest and passion or i should choose a job for protection from much spending of money!?
