I'm new to the chemical hand warmers and I had one pair that didn't work at all and the stuff inside felt unusual and fortunately I didn't get forced to push carts outside at work and I tried to activate them before remove snow on my patio

I found the Grabber brand hand warmers only lasted about 4 hours (it says 10 hours on the pack) But their "Body" warmers will last up to 14 hours (I like to use them in my sleeping bag over night when it's cold)
One thing I found that if you buy them on sale, you should check the manufacturers date because the older they are, the less effective and last less longer.

so after ten hours, put them in a plasic bag leve overnight and get another ten hours out of them
