2023 XC60 Recharge POV Drive Impressions! Volvo's Fantastic PHEV System!

Volvo is on a mission to go carbon neutral with a full EV lineup, but for now we have their Recharge PHEV products, 2 EVs, and allll the mild-hybrids you can wish for. What’s new with the 2023 XC60 Recharge? The second generation XC60 has been on the market since 2017 now and has received a mild refresh just recently. Though the real changes are to the powertrains. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

@Alllcarnews Spec Sheet: Here we have the 2023 T8 Recharge powertrain, Volvo’s term for their Twin Engine PHEV unit. Powering the front wheels is a 2.0L Turbo 4-cylinder. Powering the rear wheels is an electric motor. There is 0 physical drivetrain connection between the two. Though, combined they make a whopping 455HP with 32miles on EV mode.

So, is the XC60 Recharge a good buy? Well if you REALLY want a PHEV, yes yes it is, especially at its $57k starting price. Downsides? The Google based infotainment system is… buggy. As a Volvo owner, I can truly attest to this. The XC60 also can feel cheaper inside in the base Core trim, Plus and Ultimate are welcome upgrades.

Ride quality in the XC60 is the best of any Volvo though can feel unrefined and harsh over larger bumps. Steering is 100% devoid of any feedback or feel… but that’s fine, it’s a Volvo, not a X3, Macan, or GV70. It’s safe, relatively efficient, and still looks fresh for its age. I would definitely consider one if you are shopping in this segment!

I have a deposit down on a 2024 XC60 Recharge, Dark Theme, Ultimate Package. It's supposed to arrive in July or August. They couldn't reserve a '23 because production has switched over to 2024. I have yet to test drive one because you can't find them.
