A Day in Slovenia: Life as an American Student | Living in Ljubljana Vlog

Ever wondered what it’s like to live in Slovenia as an American student? 🌍 Today, I’m taking you on a day in my life in Ljubljana, the beautiful capital of Slovenia! From morning walks along the Ljubljanica River to enjoying a cup of coffee at a local café, I’ll show you why I absolutely love living in Slovenia and why Slovenians are some of the kindest people I’ve ever met! 💙

✅ Why Ljubljana is the Best Place to Live
Living in Ljubljana, Slovenia has been an incredible experience. The city is safe, clean, and full of life. Whether you're a student, an expat, or a traveler, there's always something new to explore. The locals are welcoming, the food is delicious, and the Slovenian culture is rich with history and tradition. If you've ever thought about studying abroad in Europe, Slovenia is a hidden gem you need to consider!

🎓 What It's Like to Be an American Student in Slovenia
Studying in Slovenia has been such an adventure! The university system here is fantastic, and I love how much students are encouraged to explore, travel, and engage in cultural experiences. Plus, the cost of living in Ljubljana is affordable compared to other European cities, making it a great option for students looking for an international experience.

🍽️ Food, Coffee, and Culture in Ljubljana
One of my favorite parts about living in Slovenia is the amazing food culture! From Burek to Kranjska klobasa (Carniolan sausage) and fresh, locally sourced ingredients, Slovenians know how to eat well! And let’s not forget about the coffee culture—Slovenians take their coffee seriously, and I love sitting in a cozy café, sipping on a cappuccino while people-watching in Prešeren Square.

🌿 The Beauty of Slovenia – Nature & Outdoor Adventures
Slovenia is one of the most naturally beautiful countries I’ve ever seen. With breathtaking mountains, crystal-clear lakes, and stunning coastal views, it’s no surprise that Slovenians love spending time outdoors. Whether it’s hiking in Triglav National Park, exploring Lake Bled, or taking a day trip to the Slovenian coast, there’s always an adventure waiting just around the corner.

💙 Why I Love Slovenian People & Culture
Slovenians are some of the friendliest, most welcoming people I’ve met. They are proud of their culture, love to share their traditions, and always make you feel at home. Whether it’s a warm greeting from a local shop owner or a conversation with a stranger who quickly becomes a friend, Slovenia truly has a sense of community that I love.

🚀 Thinking of Moving to Slovenia? Here’s What You Need to Know!
If you’re considering moving to Slovenia as a student, expat, or digital nomad, here are a few things to keep in mind:
✔️ The cost of living in Ljubljana is affordable compared to cities like Paris or Vienna.
✔️ Public transportation is efficient and easy to use (but Ljubljana is also a great city for walking and biking!).
✔️ Most Slovenians speak English well, making it easy for international students to adapt.
✔️ The country is small but perfectly located for travel, with easy access to Italy, Austria, Croatia, and Hungary.

Join me for a day in Ljubljana, Slovenia, as I dive into Slovenian culture, food, and daily life! From sipping coffee in Prešeren Square to enjoying a warm, flaky burek, I’ve fallen in love with Slovenia’s café culture and delicious local dishes like Kranjska klobasa. The people here are incredibly welcoming, and life in Ljubljana is full of charm, history, and vibrant energy. I love that you'll be learning Slovene since a lot of people that come to live here don't even try to learn the language but instead even say that we have to communicate with them in their language. You're doing everyone a favor by learning our language and I hope you enjoy living here!

Great vid as always bro, we do love our buses. Btw, if you dont have a mesečna urbana(monthly card for paying the bus), you should buy it. Its 20€a month and it saves a lot of money, as one bus ride costs 1.30€

I hope you're going to learn well! Even as a Slovenian, I hate preparing for Slovenian exams because it's often quite hard. It's nice to see that you seem quite determined. Anyways, great video! ❤

It's pretty cool that you go to the mass on Wednesdays! Me living in Ljubljana myself rarely have the time to make it there on Wednesdays.

U put the milk afterwards so it cold milk pushes the sediments to the ground and warm coffee goes up, you dont need to stir it up even. And always boil coffee at the end so the sediments up top collapse to the ground. Its small things that make coffee even better ;) Cheers

Aaron.... you didn't make coffee, you made "brown water" 😆!!!!
Although, you definitely are improving, and this is a question of the personal tase, but... the amount of water in your džezva is absolutely too big for 2 small spoons of coffee.... for that amount no more than 1.5-2 deci liters of water is more than enough. And you have to boil it (let the "foam" raise a couple of times).... Depending on your taste, but 1:2 ratio of sugar also seems excessive ....Then, let it sit for a while for coffee grinds to set and ad milk last, not first. 😊
Just bravely experiment further, you're "on the right path" 😁
