A bump down at a prop firm basically means you’re out of the job.

I think what they do is start traders out with a Max Daily Stop which equals roughly 1% of their total trading capital, and then traders decide how much of their Daily Stop they want to risk per day, and per trade based on the grade and quality of the setups. So for an A + setup a trader with a Daily Stop of $500 might risk 40%, or $200 of their Daily Stop on that one trade. For lesser trades they might only risk 10% ($50). I know Justin Sperro tells newer traders to never risk more than 20% of their daily stop when starting out, and to never risk more than you have the ability to make (your average winning day) on any given day until you're consistent.
