Video shows trees, brush on Getty Villa Museum grounds on fire

Some "trees and vegetation on site" of the Getty Villa Museum have burned amid a fast-moving brush fire, according to a statement from the president and CEO of the Getty Trust.

The museum holds around 44.000 Greek, Roman and Etruscan artifacts. The villa itself looks beautiful, they should try everything to secure the area and the artifacts.

The landscape surrounded that Villa was very well planned and the structures are designed to withstand pretty serious threats. I hope that their efforts paid off. The Getty Villa is a significant treasure in the LA area.

That's not the Getty Villa. Everyone thinks it is. It's Villa de Leon. Most misidentified building in Los Angeles. If you google Getty Villa you'll see what it looks like.

It's actually the
"Villa De Leon" in Pacific Palisades which was used for the filming of the cult movie "Blackenstein" and used for many photoshoots/films.

Even I thought it was the Getty Museum when driving by, as the Getty Museum sign is directly below and built in the same architecture.

The Getty Center is a branch of the museum in Brentwood which is between the Palisades and Santa Monica and that is also safe for now. I can’t remember tell you that the wind has slowed a lot so hopefully the firefighters can get it under control
