Most folk are of the opinion that zombies are nothing but imaginary creatures, dreamt up by director George A. Romero. But some people think a very REAL ‘The Walking Dead’ style scenario is imminent, and theyhave been prepping for when ‘excrement hits the room-cooling device’, some of them going to extraordinary lengths to keep their homes safe when the dead rise. These are zombie proof houses you’ll regret not seeing!

There may not be actual zombies in our future, but protection against other dangerous people may be necessary.

The major problem with most bug out houses/shelters is that you have to get to them from wherever you happen to be when the SHTF.

The tiny house on the island was built and owned by a sheep farmer and his wife a long time ago (60s-70s I think), it has electricity via generator too. Bjork does own it but I can't speak to whether or not she lives there. I got to visit the island when I went to Iceland a few years ago, we were able to look at the house from a short distance but couldn't go inside or get too close.

2:17 is Keilder water valve tower, which sits in a man made reservoir (Keilder Water) so there are no sea views and it certainly wasn't built by any conspiracy nut! It was built in the 1970's, I abseiled the inside of it in 1995.

The first house is actually a brilliant idea for seasonal homes, although with a bit less concrete and steel, it’s sort of storm shutters on steroids. If you build a home/cabin in a largely vacation community, that will sit empty most of the year, a feature like this would be great. Think about it, at the end of the season, you shut everything down than turn a key and watch as concrete slabs cover all the windows and doors, thus protecting them not only from intruders but also from Mother Nature. Maybe include a solar panel powered ventilator on the roof to move a small, but constant amount of air through the structure to keep it from getting stale and the odor soaking into the fabrics used around the house. The reason I saw have that solar powered is firstly it wouldn’t be needed during the winter, at least in northern climates, but also because that would allow you to completely shutdown the power to the home, while a panel or small array would provide plenty of power to move some air when it’s sunny out, and your only electrical concern could be isolated on the roof, and made in such a way that even if the entire circuit fried and melted it wouldn’t catch the main structure on fire.

4:40 Bjork's music can be described in many more words, like other worldly, experimental, and complex. She also has an extraordinary, unique singing style. Her swan dress is wonderful! I can see other people think so too.

Where do you get your information from? The structure at 2:24 is actually a VALVE TOWER for a reservoir and dam in Northern England. It is not a zombie proof house built by some millionaire. It was built by Northumberland Water in the early 1980s. It does not have sea views as it is at least 30 miles from the sea. You need to get yourself a new researcher.

Anyone who can afford to build a house like the one in #15, will have also considered the food supply situation. And yes… I would still want to survive, no matter the apocalyptic situation that might occur. Of course, that’s just me…and as long as I have my dog for company, I’m cool with no people being around. Much less drama that way. 😊

Do you guys realize when talking about Bjork's house you kept showing two different island houses?

The heck with zombies, I'd want one of these houses to keep normal people out when SHTF.

Bjorks house is the best one. Secluded, tall enough that storms and rising seas wont effect it and would prevent others trying to escape from getting to it, has plenty of land to raise animals and have crops, Can build rain water collection and install solar panels and youd have everything you need. You could even just hang out outside and enjoy the weather when its nice.

I'd make a house on Alcatraz Island. Plenty of space to farm, great strong structure, multiple ways to escape by boat or helicopter, can fish right from home, have guard towers to pick off whatever zombie may have gotten onto the island which is very doubtful. Seems like the perfect spot.

Anything that's on its own island sounds good to me. Personally, I've been thinking about zombie defense ever since I saw the 'Night of the Living Dead' remake as a kid in the '90s.

4:46 & 5:58 Now that I've had a chance to watch A Quiet Place Part 2, these houses would be perfect for survival!

That seed vault is a fantastic idea for seeds.
As for the others; start prepping and canning, dehydrating etc.

Some people referred to other humans in an end of the world scenario “zombies” because you’ll have to consider everyone hostile if you want to live very long.

I don’t know why I’m watching this at 2:30am but now I’m wanting a zombie proof house

ever since I saw pictures of the Bjork islands before they even had that name, I thought of how to self sustain them. islands like that truly are the best potential long term homes. Needs a LOT of work to get it there tho.

1: underground storage, lots of it. storing seeds, solar panels/batteries, general repair equipment for electronic/plumbing needs. food preservation area. animal husbandry equipment, and agricultural equipment of course a small armory and fishing gear. green house equipment for year round agriculture needs as well as planting things that normally wouldn't grow there.
2: stock island with fruit trees and basic livestock for sustained food sources and all nutritional needs.
3: books and entertainment area preferably built underground
4: lower the living quarters underground. by the looks of the island you could have 3-4 stories underground before hitting the water table even at high tide.
5: someone wealthy enough could even build the James Bond villains type of secret entrance for boats to get on and off the island.
