Never bought into the hype of the 940 till I carried it for a year, now it never leaves my side. Gotta be one of Benchmade’s finest creations.

Lost mine a year ago, just found it today at gravel pit. Has been run over by heavy equipment. Held up, awesome knife!!!

Started buying Benchmade knives early this summer and I bought 3 used ones that were dull, 2 of them were so dull I couldn't cut myself if I tried. I sent them in for the Lifesharp service and it cost 12 bucks to UPS them out and that's all it costs and they do it for me, they replace the pocket clip even if you don't have one on it to begin with and they pay shipping back to you. Usually takes about 2 weeks from sending it off to getting it back and other than shipping out, it costs NOTHING else! They also take them apart and inspect them, clean them and oil them. Even used ones, as long as it's real, they'll take care of it as many times as you send it in. I sent a Claymore full size in and when it came back, it's the second sharpest knife I own, after my Buck 110 auto. When I got it back I opened it to check it out, went to close it and it slipped and just filed my finger like it was cutting through warm butter lol. Blood was EVERYWHERE and it took an hour to get it to stop bleeding lol. They did a GREAT job! I highly recommend it. I have always owned knives, but only cheaper mtech types of knives from gun shows.m so I never learned how to sharpen knives well yet. I have a couple wet stones but I am not good at it yet so I just go that route.

You need to get diamond stones! They make sharpening super steels way easier

I’ve carried a 940 for years at work and it’s performed flawlessly

Just got the 940-2 for Christmas.... surprisingly it came super sharp right out of the box. It's a great knife. I have several other Benchmades but believe this one will become the one I carry most frequently as its a great all rounder.

Once a 940 enters the pocket everything else suddenly gets put back in the safe. I have the magnacut version now. Its living up to the hype

I use a ken onion worksharp and its super easy to get a razor edge.

The problem with sharpening is that the edge angle from the factory is like 25 degrees per side. Takes some time to reprofile if you want it to be steeper. But it’s no harder to sharpen than any other s30v if you get the angle right.

I would recommend a worksharp sharpener ( I have the precision adjust) it’s super easy and gets a really good edge and they are especially easy on benchmades

The 940 Mini is my go to. High quality, solid axis bar lock, and most importantly the design is so good. Its small yet useful

I like the 940. I love the 950 Rift. In my opinion, Benchmade should continue to produce it. The 950 I have is stellar. I’m trying to find a knife I like more so that I can preserve the 950 I have. Money isn’t the biggest concern (within reason). I have been unsuccessful thus far.

Definitely all around an amazing edc knife. A staple in the knife world.

Dudes.. the reason why bench made as well as spider co knives have gotten expensive is because they are popular!! It’s really simple if we all got together and made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Whoever made the best peanut butter and jelly sandwich is going to be able to charge more. Period..it’s OK to get something cheaper just as much as it’s OK to splurge. Quit going through life worrying about what other people are doing and do what makes you happy. Lawfully of course

I loved my griptilian this seems like that with less pocket damage.

Love mine. It’s been sharp for years. It seems the factory edge is like micro serrated

Hard to beat the 940. Lightweight, slim in the pocket and an excellent blade shape and size. Plus, the warranty is top notch.

I'm a die hard Spyderco guy, but you can't deny that the 940 is king of the hill. The PM2 is right there with it, but its bigger and has a fragile tip.
