What are food-borne zoonotic pathogens? Why are they important for public health?
Показать описание
More than 320,000 human cases of food-borne zoonotic diseases are confirmed in the European Union each year. Food-borne zoonotic diseases, such as campylobacteriosis, salmonellosis and E. coli, are caused by consuming food or drinking water contaminated by bacteria and their toxins, viruses and parasites.
The risks of contamination are present from farm to fork and require prevention and control throughout the food chain. But consumers can also take steps to prevent these diseases. A scientist at EFSA explains.
