As an 18 year old who has been doing history for 13 years of my life, I find this absolutely incredible. Not in the sense that I'm happy about this, but this is going to be the generation who will be able to vote and lead America. We are in deep trouble.

Every high school student should have to take the US citizen test that people who want to be citizens take. That guy who wants to be a teacher... yikes. This is a perfect example of the failure of our educational system.

As a Gen-Xer, I hated school and barely graduated with Cs and Ds. I was told that colleges would never accept me because of my grades, so I became a blue-collar worker. Now we have college students that don't know things that I learned in elementary school. These are the same students that are getting jobs to tell blue-collar workers what to do. We are truly doomed as a nation.

The worst thing is that they obviously think it's funny. I don't even live there, I'm Dutch and I knew almost all the answers. I saw a video with a Russian girl answering all questions right. Her explanation was: "I'm not an American".

I graduated from high school 54 years ago and answered every one of these softball questions correctly. The sad thing is that they all just stood there and laughed at their own ignorance. I'd go hide in embarrassment

The sad part is that I am English and I knew all the answers . it's nothing to do with education, it's about being aware of the world around you.

America gained it's independence on September 3, 1783, with the signing of the Treaty of Paris. It declared it's independence on July 4, 1776.

The fact that these kids got out of elementary school ( let alone high school) without knowing this stuff is an outrage to our education system. Abolish the NEA !

The fact the interviewer can keep a straight face through most of these answers is truly commendable. I would have walked away laughing at their stupidity.
