How To Fix Battery Acid Corrosion In Toys With Orange Batter Rust & How to Replace Battery Terminals
Check out my other video on wbite/blue battery acid corrosion!
It can be gutting to find battery corrosion in your favourite appliance, Nerf blaster or Pinky Ponk.
If the battery compartment is rusty, you can try cleaning off the contacts, but rust can be quite stubborn, and you may need to resort to the measures in this video!
If your battery's leaked, here's what to need to do if it looks white or blue:
Firstly, get the leaky batteries out! You may need to use a knife or pair of scissors to leaver them out, since the battery "corrosion" may leave a residue which seems to join the battery to the connection points in your battery tray. Shake out the remaining corrosion over a rubbish bin (trash can for you Americans!) If you get any on your hands, it's worth rinsing with water. It won't kill you (unless you eat lots of it!), but it might itch a little if you leave it on your skin for too long!
Secondly, find some cotton buds and some vinegar for an alkaline battery leakage and bicarbonate of soda dissolved in water for an acid battery leak. It's important to match the substance to the type of battery corrosion. You can use something other than cotton buds. They're just useful to get the vinegar to wherever the corrosion is!
Thirdly, put the cotton bud in the vinegar/bicarb to soak some up, and start dabbing and wiping the areas affected by battery corrosion. The leaky battery deposits should fizz as the hard substance reacts with the liquid, producing hydrogen. Repeat until all deposits are gone!
Finally, take a dry cotton bud and dab the area where the corrosion has been removed from dry. Your battery leak has been cleared up!
