Surprisingly there are no comments about using bare hands Usually people are going crazy over hygiene and stuff

It's great to see more videos about Poi because a lot of people don't understand it enough to appreciate it. It's normal to eat Poi with your fingers in Hawai'i. It's a part of our culture, as well as sharing food. Hope more people will see that.

I just don't understand people in the comments... regardless of culture, using your hands to make food is normal not disgusting.... what about making cookies or sushi or how grapes are sometimes 'stomped' to make wine?
Whatever country you come from, in the past before machines were made and even in the present, hands are used as what they are: a tool. Rice, chicken, potato, taro, bread, milk, salads, even orange juice has to come from somewhere... has to be made somehow

0:44 why would he dip his finger in there? That girl looked disgusted!
You guys are saying stuff like the food is made by hand blah blah but that’s different. It was finished and he just dipped it in what was the GIRLS FOOD.

Poi is traditionally made with your hands and a poi pounder. Your suppost to eat it with your fingers.

Glad I get to live in Hawaii and share the Hawaiian culture to everyone and dis mind the fact that how some of us locals eat poi it may seem disgusting but please don't judge it rude we should not be judging if you don't fully understand it .

In Westbengal, India we boil taro roots and have with oil, salt and green chilli. It's simply awesome.

I just hate when people comment about us “putting our hands in our food “ like come on, grow up we ate with our hand once. And it’s the Hawaiian culture to eat with our hands, so quit judging us.Mahalo🤙🏼

I can eat poi everyday poi Kalo is good, but there's also poi 'ulu, and some made from green bananas and other starches. I also like mine sour and a bit more thicker more like the texture of a stretchy fufu. And it's so good, even with just pickled onions or some fish! Of I can't have poi I eat fufu.

Is there any seasoning added? How much different is it from just eating the taro regularly?
