I had a similar sound. The problem was the POLY V-BELT guide pulley next to the ac compressor.

Knock sensor and clean the EGR valve too

The camshafts are not installed correctly. There are intake and exhaust marks on the back of the camshafts. They must be installed correctly, then it will run very quietly.

hello my dear, that noise is definitely coming from the EGR valve, mine was in bad condition. You should clean it with some wd40 it' pretty easy to do, 6 bolts, 2 gaskets and 4 screws. You should use gloves, that shit doesn't goes away from skin.

I have the same problem with this engine and it is more louder than you can hear here. Test to give a injector cleaning fluid to the diesel.

Isn't diesel engine supposed to be noisy anyway?

It's the EGR valve, i had the same noise. I changed thd valve and the noise is gone.

Kraftstoffpumpe wurde beim Zahnriemen Wechsel auf falsche Position getrennt.kraftstoffpumpe auf richtige Position bringen mit 8 mm Stift abstecken.dann läuft das Fahrzeug ruhig und klappert nicht mehr.

Was war denn letztendlich das Problem?

Meiner machte plötzlich das Geräusch beim DPF reinigen. Er machte danach teilweise dieses Geräusch wieder.

Er springt aber ganz normal an, egal ob Warm oder Kalt. Leistung hat er auch. Qualmt nur teilweise blau.

Kann es auch nur ein undichter injektor sein?
