Haven't seen this subject covered so clear and concisely. My workflow with blending is always just trial and error for the most part. Looking forward to soaking in this series of videos. Cheers guys :)

Wonderful! Such bite chunked videos are perfect! They should be the primary gotos as opposed to creating entire graphs. Thats also cool and helpful, but takes a lot more time if you are just looking for very specific information or are unsure about any intricacies of the program. I feel the most basic functionalities of a program are often the ones that lack documentation the most. I'm not sure if you already did a series like this, but I'd find a series in a style like this covering all availble notes for common tasks in material creation really helpful. I know there are the docs already, but I guess having it practially presented with quick examples in video form like this would be more demystifying to the complexities of Substance Designer. I'm a long year Substance User(mostly Painter) and have a decent understanding of modeling and 3d tools in general as well as PBR, but the "when to use which node for what" or "how would I achieve that using nodes instead of modeling/sculpting/painting" often remains a difficult question still for me when working on a graph. Sometimes I am not even aware that a certain node exists and I try to take detours and make it more difficult for myself, until I stumble on it somewhere while watching these 45min long graph creation videos.

Thanks guys, helping alot. I was starting to strugle editing materials in substance resulting in my models looking bad when textured. This series give me a good foundation in understanding how things come together. Even if i know how to use those by just playing around, having some foundational information help to understand it better.

Why do the height values reverse and create depth in the 3D model in some sections? I understand this usually happens at high or negative values, not within the low range of 0-1. At the start of the lesson, it was mentioned that negative values would not be considered. This is confusing. What are the exact value ranges applied to the 3D model, and why does a downward process occur in some cases in the height section?

Thank you for this series! At 2:40 it is mentioned that low dynamic range issues can easily be fixed by using high dynamic range. What is meant by this? Is this a node-based or global setting?

So am I correct in saying that subtract causes the white in the top layer to create black in the bottom layer?

Aka the whiter the whites in the top layer, the blacker the blacks will be in the bottom layer.

Great video. Oh, man, if you just had a pass-through node where one could visualise the height from sides just like in 1:35 (the image on the right). That would be awesome!

Is this the same as doing binary addition to get the new pixel value in the Add Blend mode, if it is, it makes it really easy to understand.
