Exterior Car Washing with Dr. Bronner's

Washing my car just might just be my favorite use of Dr. Bronner's Sal Suds. It works so fast and rinses so quickly that I once ran out during a rainstorm and cleaned my whole car. Hey, I’m from California and I know the value of free water! It does such an impressive job on vehicles, is harmless to the environment, and is completely safe for the person using it. What’s not to love?

And as an added bonus, there’s a lovely froth of bubbles to play with in the wash bucket. You might even coax the kids to help you.

Add ½ Tbsp. (7.5 mL) Sal Suds in about 3 gallons (12 L) of water. (That’s about 11¢ of Sal Suds, with 128 car washings/quart bottle.) Use a stiff brush on the wheels and a microfiber mitt on the car. Rinse well with a hose and dry with microfiber cloths.

Pure club soda in a spray bottle is the best natural hack for windows, mirrors, and lights. Spray and wipe with a microfiber cloth. The club soda removes any water spots and won’t harm the paint.

Sal Suds cleaner shows greater than 60% biodegradation after 28 days per ISO 14593.

Oh I needed this. Thank you, Lisa! Very clear, and you make it look fun. I will wash the car when: I feel like it, and Storms have passed here in the Outer Hebrides, on the Isle of Lewis!

I love your shirt. Hopefully the Bronner's website will carry those in the near future.

Can I use dr bronners soap instead of sal suds ?

I would go with rinseless. No runoff and a very safe product.

I used the Dr, .B. castille soap to wash my car, incl the windows. The car is white, so I didn't notice any spots, but last winter, in cold weather, the glass was covered with a white fillm on the inside that I have not been able to remove. Not knowing what caused that film, I tried alcolhol, but it didn't work. If it is residue from the castille soap, what will remove the film?

I have a lot of Dr. Bronner's 18 in 1 pure Castile soap. Would it work as well for washing my car?

What's the ratio between essential oil drops, sal suds and water that I can use without losing the strong essential oil smell and also without reducing the ability of sal suds to bubble and foam?

Does anyone know if I can mix up lets a gallon of whatever Sal Suds it calls for, purified water, & club soda, then put it inside the WindShield fluid thing? Meaning the thing that pumps the Windshield Wiper onto the cars glass. Thanks! :)

What about using isopropyl alcohol to clean the windows, would the alcohol also negatively affect the paint?

Hey Lisa, do you know if using Sal Suds in paint would strip the wax on the paint? Is using Sal suds on paint clean as well as any ph neutral car wash soaps?

How about saving the water and creating a product that is rinceless or waterless....

Hummm....plastic buckets, bottles and microfibre cloths....not exactly 'green' are they? Also, just noticed the use of SLS in the product....
