How to install a Projector on the Ceiling - With mount & hidden wires - Easy DIY by Warren Nash

This is the perfect guide if you don’t already have cabling in place. Learn how to install a projector on the ceiling and achieve the perfect home cinema setup.

My easy DIY tutorial goes through the basics on how to hang a projector using a ceiling mount and decorative trunking to hide ugly looking wires.

I think it's worth mentioning that HDMI cable will only work effectively up to a certain distance. I learnt this the hard way in my previous property where I installed a 15 metre HDMI cable into the wall and found that on certain sources it wouldn't transmit. For longer runs between the projector and AV system (more than 5 - 10 metres), you will need to consider an HDMI - Cat 5e / 6 balun. This will provide a more reliable signal.

Even cleaner, use a Chromecast powered by the projector and take the power cable in to the ceiling and plug in upstairs.

Is it a good idea if I mount the projector on the ceiling and put the apple tv on the projector? Or I have to buy a long hdmi cable to connect the projector to the hdmi on the groud?

Any idea on whether I can use a 4 screw mount with a vankyo 450? Only see one hole. I'd like it to be as stable as possible. Are the 4 rubber footing areas on the bottom suitable for mounting?

Are there screw holes specifically for ceiling mounts on the projector or are you screwing into the frame ? Just bought a mini but there are no screw holes other than the tripd stand screw hole and if I undo the height raising screw theres another but not exactly adequate to put on a ceiling mount. Another have a Mini projector out there ? Mine is the Dr J.

What if my ceiling is sloped across? The stand will be bent. Can I then adjust it sideways?
