Junior Mining Stock Picking Strategies from Brent Cook

Brent Cook is an economic geologist and mining analyst with almost 40 years of experience in picking junior mining stocks.

Early in his career, in 1997, Brent worked for Rick Rule as part of his analyst team.

Brent told me that he's worked in over 60 countries around the globe, and his expertise spans from gold and silver, through copper, to uranium, and more.

In this conversation, Brent and I talked about many different topics. He helped me understand what makes a good junior mining stock, and what makes a bad junior company.

Brent told me that he is very interested in places like Uzbekistan, and Iran, when it comes down to mineral potential. Though these places are not yet open for mineral exploration, he told me to keep an eye out on jurisdictions that have previously been a "no go" zone for mining companies but are on the brink of a change in policy.

We also talked about uranium, which Brent is bullish on, as well as his outlook for the future of yellow cake in the West. Brent thinks the price of uraniul should be much higher, as the current price does not incentivize new production to come on line, and we do need that.

Towards the end of the conversation, I asked Brent which 3 junior mining stocks he'd buy if he could only buy 3 of them, and he gave me 4.

- Arizona Sonoran Copper
- Orogen Royalties
- i80 Gold
- Energy Fuels

Good questions, good answers. None of the usual promotional marketing and pleasantries you normally get

Interesting interview! Good point that I haven’t heard before regarding -
we don’t need exploration for uranium, we have plenty of it. Makes me think I’ll stick to more developers/producers.

And, yes Australia is very heavily regulated which normally feels annoying but can see benefit of maintaining some integrity in the markets…

Very good interview, found engaging throughout and easy for a novice like myself to follow and understand
When he mentions fission is this referring to FCU or FUU?

Antonio - Awesome & rare interview from the expert.. As retail traders like me I don't know any technical so just make a guess and hope for a happy ending..The most important to be somewhat safe is to buy it at the lowest bottom.. Love to experience 4X or more profit like him..Learned a lot today...thank you

Thanks for a great interview. Interesting that Brent mentioned Uzbekistan as one of the top interesting countries. The same country that Jim Rogers mention he is investing in now. I wonder what companies they buy in Uzbekistan. Does anyone know?

Brent also mentioned Scandinavia as a great place to search for companies. Does anyone here have a deeper insight into 'Copperstone resources' that operate in Sweden?

Antonio and Brent thank you both for this excellent discussion. Very informative. Plus I learned about Andrew Jackson's excellent Sprott YouTube series Ore Deposits 101 which I started last night.

Just had a junior mining stock i own go down 46% on a $50 trade with 10 minutes left before the market closed (only trade of the day). This kind of thing happens all the time. The amount of manipulation in the juniors is much more prevalent than people realize.

Wow, did you just say you live in Belgium? We should hang out some time, I could learn a lot from that ;)

I like Brent Cook - he seems a solid and sensible guy with not a lot of 'pump'. What is your little sister's opinion of him?
