This baked feta pasta recipe has gone crazy TikTok viral... but is it really that good?

Ingredients:
7-ounce (200-gram) block of feta
30 ounces (850 -950 grams) of cherry tomatoes
6-12 garlic cloves
11 ounces (320 grams) of dry pasta..I used elbow
2 tbsp olive oil
Salt and pepper
Chili flakes (to your own preference)
Fresh basil

1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius).
2. Place the feta in the center of roasting pan or tray, add in the tomatoes and unpeeled garlic cloves
3. Drizzle over the olive oil, sprinkle over the seasoning and then give everything a good shake or mix with your hands (or both).
4. Place tomatoes and feta in the oven and bake for 35 minutes.
6. Meanwhile, bring a pan of salted water to the boil and cook the pasta until it's al dente, then drain, but reserving some of the pasta water in case you need it.
7. Remove tomatoes from the oven and using tongs, remove the garlic cloves.
8. While you let them cool for a moment, take a fork and mash up the tomatoes and feta, being careful not to let hot tomato juice jump up and hit you in the eye. If it's too dry, add a little of the reserved pasta water to loosen it up a bit.
9. Squeeze the garlic cloves from their skins, mash them up and stir them back into the tomato feta sauce with the pasta and some torn-up basil.

I've made this a bunch tweaking it everytime. Use a 1/2 cup of olive oil it makes a much more cohesive sauce.

I followed Laura in the Kitchen's take on this viral pasta dish and she adds the extra step of separately blending the baked feta with some pasta water in a food processor to make the sauce extra smooth and creamy. Totally worth the extra step imo.

I made this for dinner last night and tbh it IS worth the hype. The only miss here was tossing the pasta water down the sink instead of adding some to the dish to loosen the sauce and make it more creamy :)

I make this quite a bit now, harder to find a block of feta though. I have added shrimp sautéed in garlic to this and its amazing!! Thanks for another great video. Still miss " the silver fox" though :(

I use lemon-infused EVOO and add halved kalamata olives and green bell pepper diced as large as the halved grape tomatoes. Lots of chopped parsley and dried oregano (instead of basil or dill). I used to hate feta — I called it “fetid” cheese LOL — but once I created my Baked Greek Salad, ~7 years ago, I fell in love with it. TikTok gave me the idea to add pasta, and bowties are my choice, too.

I know my 2nd comment but I made this. Thank you thank ypu thank you. I did add chicken breast to increase protein. I tossed chicken with olive oil, garlic, pepper and chilli flakes. Then cooked it and added it to the sauce with the pasta. Omg yummmm. This meal is so easy to make and so good. 😋-Shawna🍁

Because I’m like this, I added sliced mushrooms for the bake. After the pasta, I added walnuts. Super yum!

I am now making this without the feta (dairy free version) and I add baby spinach to the mix at the end. Still has the good vibes of the original.

My feta pasta is 100% better! I recreated it from a Mediterranean onion and garlic in butter (sticking with Julia). Cook penne pasta. Add spinach to onion mixture, stir. Add pasta, stir. Add feta, stir and serve.

Haha, I just checked how many videos I can find about uunifetapasta = baked feta pasta. Woow! So many! I'm so happy that someone from my country created a recipe that everyone seem to love. The original baked feta pasta is made by Jenni Häyrinen from 🇫🇮. Here's the original recipe in her blog. She seems to have also other very interesting recipes worth trying. I'm not sure how many are translated though. Congratulations Jenni! :) @t​

I’m going to try making this but with Boursin herb and garlic instead. And add some fresh basil and homemade focaccia on the side
