Farmed Salmon is definitely off my menu, thank You for exposing this serious health threat.

Wild salmon are a gift of nature (to us: for food and jobs, and to the rest of nature's flora and fauna and even the soil). They will return to us freely and virtually without end...if we will only respect the habitats they need.

Farmed salmon will eventually destroy wild salmon.
Farmed salmon also destroys the sea floor under the pens.
The very best model for "farmed" salmon is the hatchery model utilized all over Alaska. These hatchery raised smolt are released into the wild and return to the hatchery years later to spawn.

How wonderful. I just bloody bought two large pieces of Tasmanian Atlantic Salmon and was looking up recipe ideas. Now I feel like a Big Mac and Fries...

Stopped eating salmon last year after I read about the food production practices used to rear this factory farmed fish and the negative impact on the marine environment.

Thank you for this excellent expose! We who live on lovely Poros Island in Greece are also in critical danger of the expanding fish industry, despite the damage done to the sea by the 9 or so cages we have suffered with for the past 30 years! This is also one of the endangered monk seal's breeding grounds. I hope we can band together to end such destruction of our seas!

Same goes for Norwegian farmed salmon as well. Nasty toxin laser diets, banned antioxidants and antibiotics, these are all that could be found in Tasmanian salmon as well as Norwegian farmed salmon.

Thank you for calling attention to this toxic, appaling industry in once beautiful Tasmania. The 'authorities' are also destroying the once beautiful and amazing native forests, and burning the areas, also destroying the native birds eg the Swift parrots and animals. Will it all never end.

When the salmon farmers moved into Dover bay in southern TAS, the fantastic beds of giant oysters began to get sick and die and the shoreline became brown and horrible.

Tasmania. Such bountiful ecosystems. Such a beautiful island. So much nourishing food produce. Why allow yourselves to be hijacked by these base corporate interests, that will turn your state into a global toxic food dump?

"Atlantic" salmon is the species. not their geographical origin. An Australian salmon farmer blew the whistle on this 2 years ago in a much more in-depth program in 4-Corners.

You know IBS (irritable bum syndrome) is on the rise in Australia and I with a bit of research found out that IBS is is an abbreviation for a group of symptoms that the Dr's have absolutely no idea what is causing it....

Powerful video. The only thing absent I feel is the distinction between ‘Tasmanian Atlantic Salmon’ and ‘Wild Caught Atlantic Salmon’. It may simply be omitted to focus on one point. Which, If that is the case, I understand.

2:40 That's wrong. Big Mac and medium fries totals 51g of fat, and 200g of that salmon has 32.2g of fat. The Big Mac alone has 33g of fat, so even without any fries the salmon has less fat.
