What are the areas of cooperation between India and the US? What are the areas where cooperation, even negotiation, has been rather difficult? How has the India-US relationship evolved in the last three quarters of a century? What’s its future? How might India’s position on the #Ukrainewar affect it? What sort of strategic alliances are required for these nations to tackle the challenges of phasing out fossil fuels and generating more green energy.

These were some of the questions that sparked a lively discussion at The #MediaRumble session titled India-US at 75. The Media Rumble 2022 was held in Delhi on October 14 and 15.

The speakers were Christopher Elms, spokesperson for the US embassy in New Delhi; Suhasini Haidar, diplomatic editor of the Hindu; and Professor C Raja Mohan, senior fellow at the Asia Society Policy Institute. The session was moderated by Abhinandan Sekhri of Newslaundry.

“We are now partners, not just bilaterally and in multilateral institutions like the UN,” said Elms. “We are creating specific organisations together like the Quad and I2U2 to address the challenges coming in the future and we have a shared vision of a free and open Indo-Pacific.”

finally NL made a video that popped on my screen :) Few observations

1. US foreign policy is not representative of american democratic process.

How else can you explain support for pakistan, saudi etc among other conflicts around the world.
Their policy is purely driven by economic gain from a land using a capitalist/imperialist lens.

2. Regarding binding of people/cultures

This looks like a side effect originating from labour shortage. Once the labor shortage no longer
exists the binding will fade. And all it takes is one bad leader for an exodus.

3. Regarding transfer of nuclear tech for peaceful use.

It should be general public knowledge by now the number of scientists and political
leaders killed in india and which country has issued multiple sanctions for putting brakes
on india's nuclear program

I can go on for another 20 pages. but time is short

We should work closely with the US but never UNDER them.

US isn't India's future. Try financing more such programs but our Non-alignment is our strength, not selling out. Objectively Russia has proven to be a time tested friend, and that's a hard game in Geopolitics where you never have permanent friends or enemies. All of these organisations mean zilch, let's see who helps us achieve "Make in India", that's a nice litmus test, and the answer won't be a single partner.
