How to Fix a Loose Door Handle (uPVC)

Front doors can take a lot of use and a door handle will be pushed and pulled constantly. It’s not a surprise that over time, the door handle can become loose.

Your door handle might feel floppy and loose in the socket. It no longer has the solid feeling that it once had.

We recommend you fix a loose door handle as soon as possible and don’t leave it as this can damage the handle or the door.

First, review your handle to see if there are gaps around the base plate. This indicates that the problem can be fixed by tightening the screws.

Then, tighten the screws.

Beware of over-tightening the handle as this can damage the door. It should be tight enough that you can’t slide anything between the handle and the door. But not be so tight that it cuts into the door or takes effort to tighten the screw.

If your door handle is still loose after trying to fix it, then contact your manufacturer about a replacement uPVC door handle.

We have tripple glazinf fromEverest and every window is drafty and the partner got locked out as the door catch stopped her entering from the back garden, locked out even when the door was unlocked and door handle pushed right down. Man in tatty old was sunb contractor installed the windows. Never worth the money.,
