Furnace minecarts would be so useful if they added functionality for chains where you could couple minecarts together and have the furnace minecart basically pull a train of loaded chestcarts back up to the surface

Mojang adding chains without the possibility to connect minecarts was the biggest troll in gaming history.

I never understood why they just didn't add a simple joining mechanism for minecarts. Guess ill just have to keep playing traincraft to get that experience...

Easy solution to their uselessness would be
either just reverse the ride direction when fueling them (0:31) so that you can get yourself pushed while sitting in another one or
add the chain connection functionality (2:44)
and most importantly, make them refuellable with hoppers and dispensers.

The fact that it can connect to other minecarts and power itself with coal instead of powered rails is so eye-opening! Next time I'm playing with friends, I might actually use this thing. Very awesome stuff

The first ever minecart track I built used furnace minecarts over powered rails because I found the idea of having a proper engine much more appealing and aesthetically pleasing than powered rails.

Furnace minecarts are the backbone of my heavy freight transport systems on vanilla, tend to run one unpowered line for freight and one powered line for passenger. If you push the carts instead of pull them then you can have insanely long trains too

Ive played since alpha 1.1 and this is my first time realizing furnace minecarts arent just minecarts that are able to smelt while on the go. I didnt realize they were powered

Would be amazing if they could:

- Be connected
- Refueled with hoppers
- Load chunks. Doesnt make any sense to use minecarts in late game as you prob need a longer distance travel. Imagine Minecarts could Load single chunks they enter and unload them after like 5 seconds. Cant imagine the lag to be that bad. Especially since its a non player thing. Prob could load the chunk differently without textures for example idk
- Reverse direction

Just imagine the insane logistics people could come up with to supply all their bases

I loved the furnace minecart. Although somewhat useless I still liked using it to transport minecarts with chest as if it were one big freight train.

Would be nice if the furnace minecart had it's own GUI like the furnace, let's you stock up on the fuel reserves without needing to spam click the fuel on the minecart furnace just to fuel it up.

That's one of the reasons why I enjoy the create mod. It has some "upgrades" for Minecarts, one of them being minecart links for easily linking multiple carts together. It's a cheaper alternative for trains early game.

Bro the only reason I keep forgetting the furnace minecart is that I play bedrock. I would totally use it in my railway instead of those expensive powered rails.

Furnace minecarts are awesome to everyone who doesn’t hate fun. Although, it would be nice to be able to tie minecarts together with leads or maybe chains, like how you can tow boats in Bedrock.
