Chocolate candy is becoming less popular

It’s mostly that gummies having a lower range of quality. A cheap Halloween gummy isn’t much worse than a really fancy one you get at a candy shop. Whereas, cheap Halloween chocolate is a LOT worse than good chocolate.

There might be different reason entirely: fruity, gummy, and sour candy has simply improved in a way chocolate candy hasn't.

I noticed at Halloween, the kids chose laffy taffy, sweet tarts, trolli, bottlecaps, fun dip and warheads over the other chocolate. Kitkats and Reese's were still hits though

Also chocolate has become insanely expensive too. Idk about the US, but in the UK, a lot of decent chocolate used to be £1 just a few years ago. Now it’s £2+.

I'm 35, and I'm DEFINITELY on the fruity candy side!! Sour patch, skittles, nerds, gobstoppers, jolly ranchers, gummi bears... these are my jam!!

It's not like I *dislike* chocolate, but I certainly don't *crave* it the way a lot of people do.

My wife’s and I noticed this last year. We decided to go all out with the full size candy bars too. The fruity, gummy, sour stuff were gone in a flash. Lots of candy bars left

It's because American chocolate companies have been cutting costs and giving us terrible terrible chocolate thinking we wouldn't notice and now the younger generation is experiencing this terrible chocolate for the first time and realizing how bad it is.

I like chocolate if it’s the only thing there. If it has strange pseudo peanut butter or stale wafer, I usually find it unappealing. Hard candy is my favorite overall, however.
