Could it be CPW doesn't want hunters knowing where the wolves are? Naaaa, I'm sure it's not that.

This does seem like propaganda, since in most cases ranchers are compensated for wolf kills at a level equivalent to them selling the livestock on the market. I don't know what the rules are here in Colorado, but a fair news report would have included that. In general in the USA, the challenge for ranchers is connected with diversion of corn from fattening to ethanol used in fuel supplies, as well as increased regulation of feedlots. I would think that in Colorado, ranchers would be doing just great based on beef prices in Walmart! I wish that this article would have dealt with that. I can't imagine a handful of wolves in a state like Colorado would have any quantitative effect on ranching income.

The ranchers are the reason why the are no wolves, at least they are being tracked to know if the wolves are the reason

Since it was people from the cities along the front range of Colorado who vote for the reintroduction of wolves, maybe the wolves should be released just west of where they live?

So… nothing has happened. Just more scared ranchers being scared. Save yourself the 3min folks.

There is a body count now of wolves on cattlemen.they are losing cattle now and more often now just recently. People cry the poor wolves! But it's not their paycheck being effected nor do they suffer the long extra hours of trying to keep their herds safe. They love them so much make them pay for the losses.

I think the wolves deserve to be there. The rancher said he had not even seen any of them.... I don't think they should be complaining.

25 of 28 calf kills beside Yellowstone were grizzly. The wolves moved in to clean up, and OF COURSE, were blamed. Even the grizzly needed their triggers to change: the moved to elk calves as lake trout killed off their spring feed of spawning brook trout.

In many countries farmers use trained guard dogs very effectively. Why can’t we in US do this? I thinks story is over blown and whiney.

We didn’t create this planet we weren’t the first species here I hate how we just overlook anything and go straight for killing it to the point of extinction which is what we did to the grey wolves and now we’re trying to reverse the damage done and these farmers who just stated they’ve never seen one suggest to kill on sight we will be our own demise i know there’s a little of good people in the world but the bad overweights the good by so much

The new wolves are teaching the pups to kill cattle. They are quick learners.

Wolves were there before they introduced them

So, the impact so far is lots of hand-wringing. Understood. Go cows!

Predators are vital to a thriving ecosystem. Way more cows die from disease than from wolf predation. There are deterrents these ranchers can utilize if they really care about their animals.

Wolfs will help control the big game we have here in Colorado.. too many deer that cause wrecks on highways...

Why do we have so many grizzly, wolves, cougar and other predators in the Columbia valley in Canada and the moment they go to the USA all hell breaks loose?? Fun Fact: we're about to send you the ultimate Canadian invasive species, so get ready: Beavers.

I don’t see these ranchers putting up any deterrents either… wolves would rather ungulates rather than your cattle, but you are sitting on ur hands too… May the goddess protect the wolves and heal the lands! ❤🐺

Honestly becoming a rancher comes not only with the good and rewards, but also the risks and dangers, wolfs are part of them.
